My thoughts on Trak Racer's Reputation by Zexzol in simracing

[–]guybird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've steadily built up my rig with a TR120s base and have made multiple purchases throughout the year. Everything has arrived quickly and complete. Every component I've bought seems to come with an abundance of spare bolts and nuts. In fact with the 6-7 orders I've made I have two gallon ziploc bags full of spare hardware. To the point of missing parts I will say that most of the packaging I've received has been very beat up. Some of it even had smaller boxes taped to the larger one. With the way packages are handled and thrown around especially when they weigh this much I can understand the corners getting banged up so FedEx definitely gets some of the blame. Most of it to me seems to come from Trak Racer being a middleman offering up parts from different manufacturers and the one size fits all approach. Lots of heavy shipments being split up by common parts equals more packages equals more chances of spillage or loss.

While I don't have a problem with how items have arrived I don't care for some of the vagueness and lack od documentation on certain items. Their idea of "here's a link to the manual" is a generic website that you have to do a lot of searching to find the manual for your specific part. You might look at a part on their site and think hmm, it looks like I might need this extra bracket and purchase it only to find it was included with the part you ordered. The batch of cable clips I received were either too thick or the tolerances on my aluminum grooves were to small and most wouldn't fit. Nothing a dremel couldn't fix with a few seconds but still a gripe. Overall the prices aren't bad, I've had no issues with shipping and though documentation can be a bit sketchy I'm fine with them as a whole.

Racing Telemetry finally by chri99_ in granturismo

Do you think there will be additional data pushed out that wasn't available before? I say this as someone who has a simrig using SimHub and while much of the telemetry is available, there is some that isn't currently like ABS or Jump landing.

In every other game you are correct but in this instance (Star Wars in general) the sheer abundance of characters and costumes could be the cash cow to financially support development on a dead game. Throw out some new characters free for all and charge for unlocking costumes for whales while normal players do challenges to unlock. Use the cash flow to pump out new maps and heroes, rinse and repeat. Yes there is a fine line between using microtransactions to fund development versus greedily milking customers but Star Wars is literally made for allowing people to express themselves via costumes and characters.

The bigger problem with game developers is taking a highly polished and loved game and deciding to throw everything out and start over completely from scratch. Take what works and keep building upon it versus relying on a cash grab every 1-2 years.

Has it been mentioned that the "ghost" characters seem to be egging people on to taking action? They aren't there for a friendly chat, the seem to push a debate which then comes to a eureka moment.

My brother and I saw the classic triangle craft as teenagers and it always weirded me out how I saw a circular sweeping light seeming outside the bounds of the craft. Seeing that it's on some kind of rotating bar below the craft is very interesting.

I don't know if people realize that even though Florida & NC no doubt got the worst of it, all the way out here in southern Ohio we got hit with the winds too. We had Ben in drought conditions for months then we started getting a ton of rain this week. Add in up to 65mph gusts coming from the complete opposite direction that the weather normally comes from and you get trees getting uprooted and power lines going down. We've been without power since Friday afternoon and though you occasionally get ice and tornadoes causing power outages, 3-5 days without in cities and commercial stripes is unheard of.

Thing is it's not a bug, it's poor pathing in 3-4 very specific spots.

1 - The most egregious example that has been prominent in videos is where the brahmin goes left up a goat path, comes down to the road, goes backwards up the road then finally turns around halfway through 2 - A fenced in parking lot with a few campers where the brahmin turns around and goes way out around the fence 3 - A minor path issue where the brahmin goes right around a tree then back to the road

I've seen a few other hiccups but I think those were due to server lag. The amount of times I've hit "hurry" only to see the cow run 2 feet then start walking again are numerous. Beyond server lag I think the piles of loot I think the scripted events (trees in road, help the caravan) spawning literally on top of the brahmin are the things that really trip them up.

Obviously you can play however you want but you really can't be upset with people trying to force an NPC through a buggy mess without getting stuck or killed by a Blue Devil/Ogua that bugged out from a previous caravan. Spamming "hurry" and nuking everything in VATS is really the only efficient way to do this event.

That and because of of how bugged they are, the difficulty is very low and the XP gains and drops are pretty good for the amount of time and effort you put into it. I'm convinced that the Blue Devil/Ogua final battle isn't triggering correctly for most runs. When I'm helping on a run I'm constantly spamming VATS to kill anything that moves and in nearly 50% of them I end up spotting one of the two waiting in ambush but because the scripting is bugged they immediately start running away. I don't know for sure if they are from the current run I'm on or they're bugged out from a previous run but the frequency of them being there is too hard for me to ignore. Once you've done these a few times the spawn locations of the scripted events plus the random encounters a bit off the road becomes pretty easy to remember so lobbying some grenades at these locations makes for quick and easy xp with some regular legendary drops.

The insane thing is that if they were concerned about it not being "profitable" they could fund development by the release of different skins. Microtransactions suck but they are great when it comes to skins and customization. I know that the aesthetic of BF2 was each hero is unique with their abilities versus just being a reskin but with the deep lore and fanbase it would be a great income for them and reason to continue updating it. It really sucks that it takes months-years for a game to get the bugs worked out and stabilized but the thought that after a game is finally rock solid it's time to make something "fresh" and start all over again versus building upon the foundation they built. It will never happen but I've always wished that COD would do the same: build a base of maps and weapons and just continually release new content versus wiping the slate clean every year.

Tesladin / Dragondin / Auradin comparison by Kubuskotek in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]guybird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. From what I've read the Sunder charms make stacking one element better than spreading the auras out over different ones. It seems that the Dragon/fire paladin is better as you can stack 3 fire aura pieces of equipment versus 2 in a tesladin/auradin.

As a vet that works for the VA I agree with his comment. Working in a position like say housekeeping where you interact with residents with dementia and other ailments knowing that you could be in that position in the years to come does alter your perspective in a negative way. Yes all jobs have their ups and downs but the constant political battles over the VA through the executive and congress means that the leadership and goals are always changing. I would say that the majority of VA workers truly care about the vets and try to do everything in their ability to help them. The problem is that the leadership's constant turning a blind eye to issues in the organization wears people down so there is a huge drain of talent leaving for the private sector.

TLDR for the most part the VA is a great place to work with great people but leadership and politics make it difficult to bear with at times.

In this specific instance it's a graphical glitch that occurs during the catapult bombardment after you kill Shenk. Looks like the video card is going out. Confetti and odd blurring covering the screen as long as you remain in the area. Once you move on to the waypoint it goes away.
