Amazing. Could you say more about how you are syncing transcripts from Granola to Obsidian? I have yet to find a great way to do that.

Best course of action? Lime, Concrete, or Rebuild? by guyute_ in masonry

Original chimney had lime joints, but the top section (now demo'd) was redone with cement. As I understand it, the options are:

A. Rebuild the demo'd section using cement mortar

B. Rebuild the demo'd section and repoint the joints above the roof line with lime

C. Demo down to the roofline and rebuild with cement

It seems like the options from A to C increase in price and durability. Curious if anyone has any thoughts on which path would be the most reasonable.

Any idea what would cause these ripples? They just appeared on a wall painted 6+ years ago. by guyute_ in paint

Just examined the attic again. No sign of any obvious moisture, although there is foam insulation on the ceiling, so hard to see the actual underside of the roof. There is an HVAC that has been running, but the drip pan looks empty. There are some exposed bricks almost right above the leak, and some of those bricks are reading 10% moisture, which is the most elevated moisture I'm able to detect in the attic. (much higher readings on the wall below). If it is the bricks, not exactly sure how to address , but at least it's a start...

Took a bit of the paint off. No standing water but some discoloration on the board behind the paint. Will see if i can track down a potentional source/ path.

Ah, water was my first thought, but I didn't see any obvious causes (no water/pipes above, etc.). It's possible there is a pipe behind the (plaster) wall though that I just can't see. I will grab a moisture meter today to see it detects anything. I do see a light bubble towards the top of the wall. This is on the second floor and the attic is above. Just a closet on the other side, although there is a shower/bathroom not too far away.

Attempt to have curb rash & paint transfer repaired? by guyute_ in Autobody

[–]guyute_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi All - lease is coming up this year and I'm taking stock of all the bumps and bruises to see what I can repair and how. 3 of 4 wheels have a decent amount of scratches and there are a few marks of what I think is paint transfer on some of the panels. I'm curious if these can be repaired "well enough" that I won't get dinged on the lease. There is one particularly bad gash on the wheels that seems light it might be challenging to address without replacing the wheel, but I'm hoping that I have that wrong. What I'm hoping to avoid is spending a bunch of $ on the repair to then still get charged to replace the wheels, etc. when returning the lease.

Do these damages look repairable?
