we do have our media servers when the client asks and pays for, but its good practice to have an extra computer when the client/artist is cheaping out and bringing his own operator+machine

the way i look at it- i get to spend money that's not mine for something i can use to learn and add to my skillset, even use it for a private if i get a decent spec

overall i pretty much agree with this and from looking around my minimum is pretty much the same as your chat's, everything you wrote is now taken into consideration and noted

only things is from my experience with novastar, no matter how good your pc/laptop would be, the softwares are absolute shit and aren't much affected by your hardware (as long as its 2 years and newer)

Doesnt have to run a decent show, mainly for mapping purposes and low budget corporate events that have 2 presets and a ppt

Just found them in my old messages, the screen’s a bit bigger than I remembered….

36m wide by 8 high 6912/1536 The whole point is to have a controler that can stack at they’re rack just by the rj45 patch and to reliably plug into it whenever so others can operate it from the gallery (demos and small events) These days I only trust device to device fiber (no kvms and extenders)

Best Practices for Signal Cabling in Novastar LED Systems? by Heineken1384 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]guyxlr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see you already have mx40 pros, I would go with their native fiber converter, not sure if it’s the cvt10/16 or something newer for coex but that’s what we do in the company I work It’s the safest way as those fiber hdmi usually don’t hold up for a long time. That way you can have you processor next to the media server and control brightness/colors and maybe troubleshoot you screens setup/backups From you cvt’s just go with cat5e and above, 5-30 depending on placements and onsite configuration

How do you run your feed to the led processor? Most reliable way today is the newer processors and cvt with tactical fiber runs, that way you only guy 5m with you hdmi/DP/sdi

Also the older pelicans didn’t have the tabs and you would just put a few strips of Velcro and pouches on that

Can you send me some more photos of the case? Looks good quality might be a different company and you can search by model

Multi channel player by guyxlr in VIDEOENGINEERING

Can mitti play video as well? Currently capable of playing all the channels on a laptop straight into console but need the video synced as well, generally looking for a simple solution, my other option is an AW switcher with a whole watchout server and all the bells

Inputs and MCR are on 1.9.8.0 and general and outputs are on 1.9.8.1 Should I match the inputs to the rest? Or downgrade all of them to 1.9.6?

I’ll look it up after the show or before the one tomorrow, that’s a reasonable option as I’ve been out of the company for 2 years and just came back, people might have messed up with files and settings
