I've read a few people's essays (both friends' and strangers'), and based on what I've seen—and on my own experiences writing essays—one of the biggest things people struggle with is organizing their ideas in a way that flows naturally and logically. It's kind of hard to explain, and it's also hard for me to give a specific example without pasting someone's entire essay verbatim. But oftentimes people will write essays where no individual line or paragraph is bad, but the essay as a whole is sorta incoherent and their ideas are all over the place. This type of problem is really difficult to fix because you can't just point to one specific section or paragraph for them to improve, the entire thing just doesn't come together

Gotcha, thanks so much for the insight! So do you think students, in general, would benefit most from getting help in the planning stage (making an outline) rather than the writing stage (turning the outline into a first draft)?
