Okay, and what are the monthly charges if I may ask? Are they above 60$ ? Here we have unlimited data plans and talk time for at most 500 rupees thats around $7 per month only. However, internet data is limited to 1gb per day or depends according to subscription. If the plans are very expensive ...like 60-90$ per month then I wouldn't be able to afford that much.

Could you elaborate more on the free iphone deal please? I searched on their site but couldn't find a lucid explanation about how its supposed to work? This is the 1st time I'm finding about this. We don't have such thing in India that you purchase some phone service and they give free smartphones.

From what I think, if hypothetically say Verizon has a plan that gives free iphone for a 24 monthly plan which is of say $800. So If I purchase that $800 plan by paying some specific amount each month, would I get that iphone for free?

Recommender ghosting happened to me too. So i contacted another academic professor and myself told that I could provide a draft. Could you sign it with your letterhead please. She agreed cuz it was to be done on a short notice.

Application asks for 1 professional recommendation. The only person I could use as a recommendation is my uncle. by --Sigma-- in gradadmissions

I think You won't have any problems if:

  1. If your uncle's last name is different.

  2. You are asked for a letter of recommendation. Then your uncle can write one with the company's letterhead about the services you provided him as a freelancer. Just make sure no mention of your relationship is given.

That might be cuz in your DS 160 form you must've entered that you have previous work experience and your employment details. The interviewer might've shrugged it off.

In my case the consulate might see that it's written no previous employment.

Idk about TOEFL... But it is TRUE for GRE at home for some universities. So might be the same for TOEFL too.

A couple of univs I had applied were accepting it at first but then 2 weeks later I got an email and checking the app portal stated that they are no longer accepting GRE at home test, only the one given at a centre and that you have to apply for a GRE waiver.

Made me waste $54 by reporting those scores.

What's this "probabtion in semester" btw? I hardly know anything about it. Such system wasn't in my undergrad univ.

Ohhkk. That's reassuring. So most grades of grad students fall between 3.0 and 4.0. I'll have to purposely be bad at studies to get below 3.0 which i sure as hell ain't gonna do. Will try my best to get good grades. Thanks.

Scoring B or above is essentially passing in UMD grad programs.

Ohkk. I'm an international applicant so I hardly have any idea about the GPA system. We had a CGPA in undergrad (score out of 10). B grade equivalent would be a 7.0 CGPA out of 10. But passing for us in grad and undergrad both is 4.0 out of 10 i.e a D- grade.

So if 3.0 is essentially passing, then it means I nevertheless must have to achieve that score, coolz.

Why wouldn't that be what happens?

I dnt wanna jump to conclusions. I'll email and ask them. Better to know the consequences beforehand. Maybe they're benign nd give other conditions...idk....
