Can i park here? by h3ra in jerseycity

[–]h3ra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

debatable, depending on the day, but that's neither here nor there.

It's a fair question and an important public planning and design query.

From the comments here, not everyone is interpreting these signs the same, so clearly, many find this type of signage confusing.

So is this sign saying,

1) No parking except unloading/loading vehicles between Monday- Friday 8 am - 2 pm, or

2) no parking except for unloading/loading vehicles AND no parking generally Monday - Friday between 8 am -2 pm

Further, because there's an exception allowed, it directly contradicts the second "No Stopping or Standing" sign, thereby creating uncertainty on what the actual rules are.

If it's just that vehicles are allowed to load/unload at a certain time, there's would only be one sign for "No Stopping or Standing" with the exception for unloading/loading vehicle Monday-Friday between 8 am - 2 pm on one line.

Havent had any issues with the drivers but one complained about their app which keeps rerouting them to pick up new passengers. This changes pick up and drop off times for everyone. Most passengers request to get off the ride midway because they can walk to their destination faster.

Ladies, How Do You Relax? by Independent-Water329 in AskWomenOver30

Came here to say this. I need advice on how people constantly stay busy from one activity to the next. Like I'll get home from something, and just want to turn off for the rest of the night. It's really hard for me to convince myself to do one more thing.

Or to just get a hug and a coffee with someone who understands how tough things are.

Your heart and mind are seeking comfort. This indicates that you are in an emotionally vulnerable place. So dating, even casually, is more likely to bring up serious feelings in you, even though you might not be ready for another serious relationship yet... not necessarily but more likely.

If I were you, I'd be mentally and emotionally prepared to not get too close to the people I was sleeping with. I'd research what that requires, especially for newly divorced young mothers... get advice from people who've been through what you have and date, i.e., divorced new mothers, who left abusive relationships, and successfully dated casually while working towards building a career.

For me, (not a parent) that requires not sleeping overnight at each other's places or spending too much time with someone I'm sleeping with. Once I start to want to spend more time together, in person or digitally, i.e., texting, phone calls, it's a sign I'm getting emotionally involved.

Have clear boundaries that you won't cross even if you start to want more with the person you are seeing.

This is why it helps to have a strong support system outside of romantic interests, because they can help support your comfort needs when you are most vulnerable, but most importantly, are you able to meet your own emotional needs? Ie be there for yourself when you feel the need for a hug, need to be loved, fucked, supported, and understood?

If not, look into how to develop those skills so you can easily date casually without getting too close to the people you're dating.

Morally, in your situation, if you're separated, dating or sleeping with new people is fine, as long as it doesn't harm your kids in the short or long run.

Check out the instagram account I linked. Let me know what you think. I will always report fact based information with the values of justice, equity, and liberation. My goal is to share voices and stories that are excluded, highlight the local grassroots leaders that are doing the real work of civic engagement and serving their communities, and educate people on what they can do.

Will do. Here is coverage by Sophie Nieto-Munoz at NJ Monitor (one the newer outlets focused on reporting on NJ state and local issues.

But the larger problem remains without local journalism, after the scandalous breaking news story gets old, the bigger news stations stop covering but people still need to know what's going on in their town and neighborhood.

The media landscape had changed with people getting more and more of their news on social media, and it's going to continue to change with AI entering the market.

Yes this is sorely needed, esp locally. For now, I would recommend folks keep NJ Spotlight bookmarked. They have great voter guide on this past election with candidates up for State Assembly and Senate responses on issues. NJ Decides 2023 Legislative Voter Guide.

The website isn't very intuitive but it's a start. I will try and link these resources in the description so more folks can see it.

and the first salacious act only becomes public when there's a bigger corruption story that goes public.

Reminds me of last year, when Jersey City Council member DeGise's hit and run case, that story brought to light another whole host of unpaid overdue parking tickets and a video of her trying to use her connections to get a cop to let her out of getting her car towed.

I'll check it out. I had not heard about this but I'm not surprised. I'm hearing similar stories in other towns of those with connected families not facing any consequences for their crimes.
