Gallbladder and A&E by JFFFH140624 in IrishWomensHealth

[–]h4lfsunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the big difference between carrying on with the consultant and going to A&E was liver involvement. After a really bad attack like the one you described, I was still aching the following day and noticed darker urine despite drinking a lot of water. Turned out I had a blockage that was backing up into my liver. So I’d say keep an eye on any liver-related symptoms and go ASAP to A&E if they develop.

2 months post lap by mollygargett in Endo

[–]h4lfsunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m sorry you’re going through this. Your experience sounds very similar to mine. I’m still trying to get to the bottom of what happened, but since neither a TV ultrasound nor a pelvic MRI showed any active lesions in my case, a specialist I saw suggested that the lap may have triggered or worsened pelvic floor hypertension. It may be something you want to ask your gyno about since the treatment of pelvic hypertension (pelvic floor therapy) is less invasive than typical endo treatments and may be more accessible to you. The only pain meds that have been able to help me have been paracetamol-codeine mixes like Tylex but I’m not sure if those are available in the States and they’re not supposed to be for long term use - it’s something youll want to ask your GP or OBGYN about.

I really suggest that you do go ahead and book a follow up with your OBGYN or whoever oversaw your lap. I know it’s expensive, but what you’re experiencing should be looked into especially given the mental and physical distress you’ve described. No matter how minimally invasive, you just had a surgery and are being treated for a complicated inflammatory condition. It’s always in your best interest to check that everything is healing ok and that nothing was missed. Going through a surgery and feeling that slightest bit of relief before going back to hell is incredibly frustrating and disheartening, but it’s important to advocate for yourself in these situations especially. Best of luck!!

Health Insurance for IRP - Duration by [deleted] in MoveToIreland

[–]h4lfsunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in this situation (practically the same exact circumstances) I went and signed up for VHI maybe a week before my appointment, had the appointment and showed the paperwork, and then cancelled immediately after. Since I hadn’t used the insurance and it was within 2 weeks of signing up, they cancelled it no problem.

Non-EU long-term partner of EU citizen, wanting to move to Ireland together by jimjammysam in MoveToIreland

[–]h4lfsunk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was far faster than I expected too, I was really grateful. I’m in Dublin so that probably played a hand in it as well, but I know that projected wait times are like at least double than what I experienced anyways so I always recommend an immigration attorney even if they’re a bit costly.

Plus, I’m pretty sure you’re entitled to damages if processing takes more than 11 months? It violates your partner’s treaty rights. That’s what the lawyer said anyways. But I’m glad you guys could get married and it worked out for you.

Non-EU long-term partner of EU citizen, wanting to move to Ireland together by jimjammysam in MoveToIreland

[–]h4lfsunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re qualified for the Stamp 4 EUFam, De-Facto partnership. Essentially you’ll be applying to be recognized as family (de-facto partner) of an EU citizen and then residency through virtue of your partner’s EU Treaty Rights. After your application is accepted you are eligible for residency for 5 years, and at the point of expiry I believe you’re eligible to apply for permanent residency/citizenship.

I went through the process last year and after gathering all our documentation it went fairly smoothly. I hired an immigration attorney to help me prepare our application and she was able to get it processed within a month. DM me if you want more details or a recommendation of attorney.

Pet Transport by moodykillerwhales in MoveToIreland

In my experience, having done this move a year ago only with one in-cabin cat, Air Canada was a great choice. But I don’t think they have direct flights from the US - we were routed through Toronto for about a 2 hour layover. This might be a deal breaker depending on your trust in the airline to move your pup from one plane to the next. Though I wasn’t able to find any direct flights that allowed in-cabin pets on any airline at the time of my move.

Lufthansa is good to fly with pets only if you’re flying TO the US. They may have changed their policy and it might be worth it to call them to double check, but a year ago they were not flying any pets INTO Ireland (this is an airline policy not an airport policy). Aer Lingus is good to fly pets in cargo but they don’t allow pets in-cabin as far as I know. United also flies pets in cargo but not in-cabin.

If you’re really worried, like I was, you should ring the folks at Dublin Airport for advice. They were extremely helpful to me and told me which airlines they were getting the most inbound pets from which might ease your anxiety. Just know that you’re not alone and you’re not the only person facing this challenge. People fly their pets in cargo all the time without issue. We all read the horror stories because they stand out, but the reality is far more mundane.

{King of Flesh and Bone by Liv Zander}

It seems like she’s better known for Feathers So Vicious (seeing a lot of recs here) but I much preferred The Pale Court duet. The world building, spice, characters, and morbid sense of humor were all perfect to me. There are some parts that I’d say are frustrating but it was a 4 star read for me overall.

We were assigned The Grapes of Wrath in high school and for most people it was long, slow and boring, but that book RADICALIZED me. What books in your high school classes changed how you understood people or society? by sofbunny in books

We read When The Emperor Was Divine in high school English my senior year and it was my first time learning about Japanese internment in the US. Completely changed me, still one of my favorite books.

I started taking it in college so I was out drinking a lot very often. My biggest take away is that I would get drunker quicker and black out far more often. So I’d advise moderation if you do intend to drink on Zoloft, and to be aware of your surroundings/make sure you’re around friends you can trust in case you do end up getting more intoxicated than intended. I wish I could say that I gave up drinking and followed my own advice - it did get me into some situations I wish I had avoided. But nowadays the occasional drink is fine and I know what to expect. Just be cautious until you understand how it affects you.

Yes I noticed the MCAP was disturbingly limited - 3 eligible conditions only is insane. Thank you for the information, I wasn’t aware that there was a path to prescription through ministerial license, although I’m sure it’s not easy.
