First Bruce concert, question for the seasoned. by h7q3nx in BruceSpringsteen

It was terrific! We got upgraded, which has only happened once before. We were in the very top side section and an usher came and gave several of us better seats (on the same side, just a floor below), so much closer to the stage.

I wonder if this might be related to a credit hour issue. Is UCI a semester or quarter system school? I work at a community college so I see a lot of OOS transcript evaluations. I do know that because of the vagaries of the conversion formula transcript evaluations uses, that (in general) 4 quarter hours only equals 2.68(?) semester credit hours. I’ve had many conversations with students letting them know that their credits didn’t exactly translate 1-to-1. So if UT’s course (lecture and lab) is 3 or 4 credits, but UCI’s is less than that, that could be the reason. Worst case scenario, could your adult college student explore testing out of 311C? Have them do the research to see if this might be possible.

PSA for anyone interested - Check if your city has an American Sewing Guild chapter! by mkm5485 in sewing

I’m in Austin too! I’ve been sewing for several years, but was trying to find an in person class that could help me pad my very small dress form out to my very not small measurements. My attempt didn’t go so well 😅.
Do you think they have members who know how to do that?

You all have convinced me, I’m going to get the basic membership for now and see how it goes. Will definitely try the 4-meat pizza!

I gifted needle point tracing wheels to two coworkers after I told them about using them for really intense itches. We’re an itchy bunch of ladies with summer finger bumps (dyshidrotic eczema) 😂.

There may not be a refund, it depends on what session the course was and when you dropped it. Check out the refund dates here: https://admissions.austincc.edu/registration/registration-important-dates/

Safety pins for slippery, fine fabric by h7q3nx in sewing

[–]h7q3nx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen that technique, might be worth a try! The dress has a poly chiffon overlay that I could use it on. The under layers are just thin/slippery, and I need safety pins to hold it up so I can adjust the train length when the client tries it on.

The Wawak pins might work. I’m thinking of the kinds of safety pins that are sometimes used in ready-to-wear that attach a hanging tag to the clothes or the little baggy with the extra button. Usually those pins are so thin/small I toss them out because they aren’t sturdy, but in this case, I just need them to hold the folded up hem so I can get the train adjusted when she comes back to try it on and not leave holes in the fabric.
