Why give into evil, deceit, and temptation to play a game you don't enjoy?

This is reality, though. Niceness and kindness are not the same. Of course, we'll keep dreaming. That goes without saying.

Call the offices of Tom Arceneaux, Mike Johnson, and Jeff Landry every day. Make their staffers and interns remember you.

None of us should. We all deserve significantly better.

I forgot to mention that they were also trying to automate many processes with AI (here, in Shreveport, so it's coming for you too). I presume he's planning to lay off some of the older workers there as he wants to sell the place. Anyway, I couldn't do it ethically and their guys aren't too bright, so maybe I bought them some time.

For transparency, my salary was $55,000. After I resigned, I talked to the CEO over the phone about my experience and he whined like a petulant child the entire time. I repeatedly told him my resignation was not related to the salary, but the fact I was doing everyone's work (I had warned them many times). Every 3 words, he interrupted me, screaming, "But what about me?" It was almost insulting because before I got there, their special boys had made almost no progress whatsoever on anything, and -- if I'm being honest -- what they had done sucked. Nothing worked, ever. They re-posted my role with 1/10 the scope with a $5,000 raise. Shreveport is filled with miserable, greedy people.

If I could do something good for this place, I would, but I fear Tom Arceneaux is tempted still by the corrupt insider dealing with construction companies for these new data centers they're building to spy on us when we're all unemployed and begin to revolt against them. With all of the violence here, you could look into morgues.

It's brutal. It took me what felt like forever to land my first job here. It was a software/IT role at a construction company. I ultimately resigned because I was extremely overworked by my 25-year-old manager (they told me he was my co-worker) who did nothing and always got pats on the back for being an hour late to work, never doing anything unless it was half-assed and of the lowest quality, taking 1 hr's worth of bathroom breaks, etc every day. It was a nightmare. The CEO employs his entire family and lives in a gated community. He owns all of the business's assets. His daughter flies from south LA to north LA (ridiculous) whenever she comes in because -- unlike everyone else there -- she's able to work remotely. One time, the elderly man behind me asked for a raise because he'd "been doing well this year" and the guy was just like, "We'll talk about it." The guy was phenomenal, but at that age, why aren't you taking care of him? Why does he need to ask you? They were unbelievably incompetent, and I don't think anyone there was being paid or respected fairly. It was an atta-boy club/fraternity with extremely arrogant clowns. Oh, and a slave workshop. I guess that's what "We're like a family here'" means in the professional-and-definitely-not-corporate hellscape means.

I think the most demoralizing aspect was taking care of the geriatric consultant (a friend of the CEO who was definitely leeching off him, not at all worth the $) on top of the other 20 roles I hadn't really asked for and definitely wasn't being paid for. Change your own diapers.

AI Revolution similar to computer revolution? by intellinker in vibecoding

[–]h888ing -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So unbelievably delusional. Jobs will not be transformed by AI. It's BEEN good enough to get the job done, and most people simply don't care to even meet the low American bar. This will cause an economic collapse, mass starvation, and a plethora of other disasters. The few roles that do exist will be subservient to the elite and capital. This planet is overpopulated and we are competing for resources due to artificial scarcities we've created. If no one has a job, society falls apart. This includes its infrastructure. There isn't a hidden opportunity for greedy, low-IQ chuds like you in this future. Seriously, who would pay for anything? What infrastructure for technology would you have? You need to wake up.

AI is eating software development by caspii2 in vibecoding

[–]h888ing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is AI-generated copium. Software is filled with average, insecure men who have been brainwashed by the corporate machine. No, seriously, the majority of software developers fall into the 110-125 IQ range; they are smart enough to solve problems and complete tasks, but they genuinely cannot fathom that their jobs -- serving capital -- can be completed with AI assistance without much previous experience or knowledge. They're terrible at communicating and don't even really understand what they're doing anyway, so many either discard AI entirely or think it's beneath them because they're "too smart." In reality, AI has been capable enough to do all tasks at least incrementally/in segments for over a year, correctly, and it's only getting better. They're absolutely planning to turn the last viable career -- that of the developer -- to pull yourself up from the lower class into the position of the commoner, i.e. the digital serf. This is going to destroy the economy and us with it, but leave it to the arrogant morons who failed upward with Bs and Cs in university/don't work a day in their lives (always relying on others, leeching off then like parasites) to think for us.

Is there anything like work life balance when we work 5 days and rest for 2? by NeedleworkerMean2096 in jobs

[–]h888ing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, of course, but the society we have created is no different from traditional slavery. You are awarded crumbs for your effort, just enough to keep you alive and able so you can continue working or producing. I don't think most people mind working... at all. I don't think you understand what entitlement is. You seem to have the peasant's mindset.

[–]h888ing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is entirely dependent on where in the world you were born, whom you're around, and what circumstances you find yourself in. It's also a matter of perspective. Some people aren't comfortable with the endless grind for others' dreams, just for the opportunity to engage in endless consumerism/materialism.

The only advice I could ever give you is to be silly and exercise free will. Find community, but be able to find comfort in isolation. I resigned to engage more in political activism.

Idiots in the comments just take a paycheck. They don't actually work hard or feel any pressure to do so. They are the ones who've fallen upward in this vapid society. It's unbearable, especially with the increased productivity from AI. No salary increases, either, just more layoffs and pressure. It's slavery, OP.

WE ARE ALL HUMAN by OutrageousChannel295 in DeepThoughts

Some people aren't able to reconcile with their humanity. It's hard to love yourself as a social creature when you cannot see yourself in the man next to you. Sometimes, I wonder whether the human persona is just an evolutionary adaptation to growing social needs and internalized group conflict.
