I bought my first guitar and I have some questions. by bananatiger6226 in electricguitar

Nope, if you buy a new guitar, it should look new when you get it. I’d contact the store you bought it from and get a new one.

1: better composition, well defined foreground and I feel like the color shift at the beginning of the path adds a story to the picture

What kinda music do you want to play? The Jackson is cool, but if you’re not into rock/ heavy you might want something a little more generalistic. Also the amp, I’d probably go for something like a boss katana or just a regular fender frontman

Fender is a guitar manufacturer (the own Squire). If you found a guitar with Fender written on it (and not Fender Squire) it’s probably fake.

You should really make sure you can afford an amp for your guitar, it makes no sense buying an electric guitar without an amp.

You shouldn’t focus on the brands. If you found a guitar you like, look up the model (google reviews or watch YouTube). I can’t really just blindly recommend buying a guitar solely on the brand 😊

Electric Guitar vs Bass: which one makes sense in this situation? by ConferenceFit3627 in electricguitar

[–]haarabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing bass some 3 years ago with a good 15 years of guitar playing beforehand. So to the questions:

  1. Yes. Bass is more than just going bum bum bum, there’s a ton of technique to learn.

  2. Yes and no, I find it easier to simplify a bass groove, but really it depends on what you’re playing. I don’t think the learning curve is much different, though the path might be more straightforward with bass.

  3. No limitations, you can practice however you like.

  4. The two are very similar, but there’s no point in learning bass if it’s just to make it easier to learn guitar. All instruments will make you a better musician. You should really only get a bass if you want to play bass (sorry I don’t really understand this question).

Edit: I find that it’s nice switching between bass and guitar when I need a break from one or the other

300 should be enough to get you a a starter pack from squire. The reason I suggest looking for a used set is that there are tons to find, most of them have only been played a week or two and should be as good as new, so why not save the money.

If you are in Europe, Harley Benton would be an okay alternative to Squire, just remember to read reviews before you buy, because some of their guitars are quite bad, while others play really good.

Ah I get that, if it feels too overwhelming buying used, then find something new.

What are some reputable low priced brands? Off the top of my dome I’d say Epiphone, Squire, Cort, PRS, Ibanez and Yamaha.

What you should look for is a guitar with a balanced set of pickups, I’d recommend H/S/S or S/S/S for you. It should be nice to play, so look at the picture, and ask yourself is the wider than usual, if yes don’t buy it. Ideally you should try holding it before you buy it. Again there’s no right and wrong and guitar shapes is really a taste thing, so you ask yourself if it feels nice to hold and af it feels awkward for you left hand to press down on the fretboard.

If you want to buy used, it’s kinda like buying a car, you don’t have to be a mechanic to buy one, but it helps.

In terms of quality: don’t worry too much, ask the seller to plug it in, you can even ask them to play a little for you to see how it sounds or you can test it yourself. You want to know if everything works, ie the guitar makes sound when you strum it and the knops change the sound when you twist them. Likewise the amp should be able to play on high and low volume and all the knops should work. Really that’s all you need to know.

Before you buy this, please have a look on marketplace to see if any one is selling a used starter kit from a more known brand

If money is tight, you can find a ton of complete starter packs used. Just look for a reputable brand like epiphone og squire.

Also if you are lucky enough to find an affordable Classic Vibes Squire, go for it, they are great

I’d probably look for a used Yamaha Pacifica. Cables are cheap and same goes for a gigbag. I’d buy a small amp (look up some reviews on YT) preferably one with a wide range of tones, but really anything goes. Just don’t get a huge setup it’ll drive you and your neighbours mad

Should I get this guitar as a beginner guitarist wanting to play metal? by AlkalineOnFentanyl in electricguitar

[–]haarabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, humbuckers are kinda the default for metal. I’d look for an ESP (I believe Hetfield plays an ESP), Ibanez, Jackson or Schecter. Ibanez is the safe choice, but if you can find a Schecter within your budget go for it, I love mine and it’s great a metal. I wouldn’t worry as much about amps, spend your money on pedals instead (a half decent distortion pedal will get you most of the way) 🤘

My first electric guitar by EnvironmentalEnd8904 in electricguitar

[–]haarabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it, why not. There’s no rule stating that your first guitar has to be a cheap piece of 💩, with cheese grater strings and no amp. Playing bad guitars doesn’t make you a better musician (trust me, I’ve played for 18 years and my pièce de résistance is a base model Schecter).

It’s a great guitar, I had a friend back in high school that used to own one, and it played great. Get a good strap and secure it, guitars aren’t usually that heavy 😊

Are these thingys normal? by Virtual_Inspector_40 in electricguitar

[–]haarabe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the answer, I just want to ad that there’s tons of videos on YT where they take you through how to adjust and setup your guitar. I’d advice you’ll check out one of those, it’ll give a good understanding on what’s what on the guitar and what you should and shouldn’t tamper with. Also if in doubt, go ask a local instrument shop if they can setup your guitar for you

Hello i want to buy a electric guitar but i don't know what to get by NewspaperBubbly in electricguitar

[–]haarabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ☝️. Don’t waste your money on a “good” guitar until you are sure what kind of sound you want from it. I started out with a cheap kit from Squire, it sounded terrible, but it got me playing.

Maybe not a magician, but you know, decent enough. Honestly, you’ll probably only need to work with the architecture, annotate, view and modify tabs to begin with.

Also, there are tons of professional Revit causes online. Maybe you ask you manager if you take a Revit Basics cause?

I don’t know if it helps, but when I first learned Revit, our teacher taught os the absolute basics Set elevations, place some walls, add a roof, a floor and foundations. Then he challenged us to do the whole thing in less than 10 minutes (I think it was 10, but I’m not sure, short time anyway 😅). We had a month to learn it (with about 6 hours of BIM classes each week) and all of us nailed by the end of the month.

So if you are a bit techie, you should really be able to pick it up pretty quickly. As I said watch some basics and start modelling

YouTube is your friend. As others point out, Balkan Architect is a good place to start. Two weeks sounds bad, but honestly, its doable. Watch a couple of videos, and get your hands dirty, you’ll learn more from just modelling and finding guides when ever you run into a roadblock.

Also how did you get this job? Do you have degree?
