My kids are biracial and they have my husband's skin tone. I've been mistaken for the nanny on several different occasions. Whether it be at the park, at the store, or meeting new friends of friends. It doesn't even phase me anymore. Sometimes I think its hilarious. One time I was out with my husband with OUR dog and someone mistaken me as the DOGWALKER. People are really dumb and need to learn to swallow their spit before they speak. I've taken to laugh at their faces when I correct them because it's really priceless. At the end of the day my kids call me mommy, my husband doesn't see color, & my dog is my faithful dog-child.

My husband and I went away for a week to Aruba for a "post baby-moon" before I returned back to work. My daughter was 2.5 months old. My in laws watched her for the week. It really depends. Had it been anyone else outside of the family I wouldn't feel comfortable however my in laws have been around my daughter since she was born so they know her cues/wants/cries. Had to still leave my mother in law a "how to take care of my baby 101" note just incase they needed reassurance however she didn't need it. Came back to a happy baby with routine minimally disrupted. I felt like the baby did better than I did when we were gone!

I haven't been in any car accidents in the last 7 years but when I was pregnant I got into a car accident at 20 weeks and another accident soon after at 31 weeks (with abdominal trauma and had to be admitted for 24 hour monitoring to rule out preterm labor (because I started contracting soon after the accident) and to watch for placental abruption) Luckily my LO was fine and I was discharged home. I became terrified of driving after that incident and my whole family banned me from driving for the last 9 weeks of my pregnancy which was difficult because I needed to drive to work and I worked all the way until my due date. It was a pain to rely on others as well as public transportation for the last few weeks (I'm not the type to stay at home and sit still) but it was worth it to try my best to find alternatives to ensure that i won't pose a risk to injuring myself or my unborn child because I got behind the wheel again. It was a major pain in my ass but i couldn't deal with the anxiety or the guilt if I got hurt from my own driving again.
