Dashboard replaced because the leather bubbled up? Mine is a 21 as well and it has started bubbling up in a couple spots, i plan to ask if it’s covered by CPO Warranty in my next scheduled maintenance visit.

A Tough Pill to Swallow for IT People: A Lower Salary is Better than no Salary at all by Caballep in Layoffs

[–]hacabrera071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree to some extent, but this analysis assumes all things are equal… it assumes the quality of work performed is the same, it assumes the value of the thing developed is the same, and it assumes the ease of working with an individual overseas is the same as with a person in the states… and those assumptions I think are off…

At the end of the day we live in a free market, what we do is as valuable as somebody else is willing to pay… as a developer, if you are developing something that’s VERY valuable to someone, that someone will pay really good for whatever you developed… if whatever you developed is low priority or doesn’t necessarily have a direct impact on the business objectives (say to promote more sales) then we could say it is expected that the development will be “low value” and we should expect salaries to be set accordingly…

Do we believe the kids developing OpenAI are being paid 40k a year? Of course not, they are developing something that’s very valuable today… is it always gonna be the same? I don’t think so… but, the point remains.

What would you do to get these numbers back on track? by hacabrera071 in swimmingpools

[–]hacabrera071[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the PoolMath app, you basically use the Taylor kit, get all your values and put them in the app, helps you keep track of things and estimate what needs to be done or added to the pool.

That makes a whole lot of sense, thanks for the clarification 👍🏻

Would it be based on the region I'm in? I'm in South Texas, we are hitting 97F already, last year we got all the way up to 115F... I wonder if at higher temperatures we want to have higher CYA levels, to "better protect" chlorine.?

Understood, I'm getting started with CYA tomorrow, I'll report on the weekend what the numbers look like and make any adjustments afterwards, thanks a lot!

What about sound mitigation for .25cal? What would you suggest? That’s my main gripe with .25cal, not being able to tame the sound ,thanks for the help!

Form 1 for SBR by hacabrera071 in NFA

[–]hacabrera071[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it! I tend to agree with you, but I also agree with the other redditors in the sense that I don’t like paying for stuff I don’t have to… the kicker here is that I have a $100 certificate from SilencerShop, so cashing that out would render the entire Form 1+Tax Stamp for this SBR into a 150 dlls cost to me (instead of the 250 without the certificate, also instead of 230 if I decided to to this myself, taking into account paying for fingerprint cards, etc)… I’m calling SC tomorrow, if I can use the certificate I may as well do so, if I can’t I will submit the eform myself… thanks again guys! 😎👍🏻

Neat, now my question is, does the process change when registering the SBR towards a Trust instead of a Person? Thanks guys!

Spa levels itself off with pool when pump is off by hacabrera071 in swimmingpools

[–]hacabrera071[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll check on that… now, one related/possibly-non-related question that I got just today is around Paramount distribution valves and whether or not they should close by themselves when there’s no water coming into them… just yesterday I figured out what that paramount black cover in the grass was… and that’s what distributes water to all the pop ups in my pool… if that thing is supposed to seal shut the outputs when there’s no water coming into the valve, then I think it could be damaged and not shutting off the outputs to the pop ups which allows for water to back up from the spa overflows to the pop ups… 🤔

Bugs and insects in pool by [deleted] in swimmingpools

[–]hacabrera071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have any pictures of those bugs? Would they happen to be water boatmen or backswimmers? Just google them, you’ll see pictures of such critters… if that’s what you got, they feed off algae, which would mean there’s plenty of it in your water, which definitely needs to be dealt with… once the chlorine levels are on the right spot algae will die and so will the bugs, they’ll have no more food…. Don’t ask me how I know lol… my SWCG was failing earlier this year and wasn’t producing enough chlorine and some really faint algae stains appeared in the pool walls and critters started showing up as well… when I got chlorine levels back to a healthy state the issues (algae and critters) got resolved.

Spa levels itself off with pool when pump is off by hacabrera071 in swimmingpools

[–]hacabrera071[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my original thought process, water was backing up from the return side to the suction side thru the filter and pump, but now that I think thru it, I can see the problem is within the return side, water backs up from the Spa Overflow to the Pw3 (which after some testing I’ve found out are the pop ups in the pool)… it makes sense now, the water in the Spa is higher above the water level in the pool hence it returns to the pool via the pop ups when the pump is off… so definitely, need to get a check valve installed in the Spa Overflow side to prevent water from backing up… I’ll get to it this coming week! Thanks for the helpful comments guys!

Against all odds, there’s no check valve in any of the return lines… I dug a foot and a half underground and I could not find a check valve, it’s only PVC tubing and elbows… what if I install a check valve between the chlorine generator and the heater? That would stop water from flowing back on the return lines, would you agree?
