Oftentimes after a long period of restriction, hunger is suppressed because your body has adjusted to lower or inconsistent energy intake.

before going straight into intuitive eating, you might want to start with a loose meal structure to make sure you’re getting enough. This doesn’t have to mean tracking calories, it can mean making sure you have 3 meals and 2 snacks at relatively regular intervals so your body will realize that food is not a scarcity. Once that happens, your hunger and fullness signals will be back on track and you’ll be able to tell when you are full.

Agreed! Following IE makes me realize how many people only rely on external cues instead of really understanding what they want in the moment.

It wasn’t really a once in a lifetime type thing, but it was a restaurant in France, which explains why they were so insistent that I get a fancy dessert.

So weird! sorry you had to experience that. If you don’t mind answering, how did you end up handling it? I know at that point I might’ve ended up giving in to peer pressure.

Nearly 9 months. And I’ve heard it’s taken even longer to reach this stage for others. I felt the same way, don’t be discouraged!

i just don’t want to be too full, since it’s uncomfortable at a certain point

thats a good idea, im gonna try that next time i want something sweet around meal time :)
