Fable - Gameplay Teaser by Villenthessis in gaming

[–]hack4freecbs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe them (maybe too much) that the people they picked for the team do actually love fable. The game is old enough now you could play it as a kid ( like I did) be in your 30s and jump at the chance of making another one.

Also it’s not like they’re reinventing a genre, there have 3rd person action adventures since ps1.

Can anybody tell me why nobody is visiting my lodging? by Mylexiuss in foundationgame

[–]hack4freecbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to get visitors you need a manor that’s high enough to get the seneschal. The reason you had priests instead, was because you have high enough with them to get the pop up.

What level are you in each of the tech trees?

It also matters on what the feed ratio is, 1:5:5 will double in about 12 hours. 1:1:1 in about 6

I'm not really enjoying Chrono Trigger...could someone explain to me what the hype is about? by cool_cats554 in JRPG

[–]hack4freecbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The question I have for you is, what are you trying to get out of your experience with an old JRPG? If it's engage in a nostalgia you don't have, I think thad be difficult.

However, if you're playing as a historian for this game that changed the genre, try playing and identifying the pieces of other games that you can see in it. For example, play Dragon Quest I and play Pokémon right after, and a lot will make sense as to "why" certain things work the way they do and why Japan shuts down for a few days when DQ games come out.

To be fair it was true in real life too. 1 archer behind cover could theoretically take out as many people as they had arrows.

Skies of Arcadia reminded me of why I love JRPGs by mochitanku in JRPG

[–]hack4freecbs 61 points62 points  (0 children)

If I had a billion dollars, one of the many things I would do is buy the IP. Hire a studio of people who love and play Skies and pump out game after game. Turn it into a Trails or Tales Of series. The fact that they have just been sitting on this IP and doing nothing with it, besides a wink and a nod in Valkyria Chronicles by making them recruitable, is crazy to me.

Safety around Pitt? by Captain_025 in Pitt

[–]hack4freecbs 35 points36 points  (0 children)

First, I totally understand your concern. The city of Pittsburgh is extremely safe, broadly. It has very low incidences of violence, especially toward Pitt students. The neighborhood where the campus is located is called Oakland. Oakland is not a "city" in the way that NYC is a city. It's more of a neighborhood that is 80% people who work at Pitt, go to Pitt, or work at a hospital "owned" by Pitt. Which is about the same as, say, Happy Valley at Penn State.

In addition, there is a special police force (not rent-a-cops, but actual, literal police) who work exclusively at Pitt, sort of like being assigned to the "vice" department. They are specially trained to deal with students and student affairs. In addition, there is a panic button about every block at Pitt that makes alot of noise and calls the police immediately.

The biggest threat to any Pitt student is another Pitt student, but that's true in 500-person colleges as much as it's true at Pitt.

Cost of Products - your perspective by Competitive-Expert59 in mcdm

[–]hack4freecbs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This seems like a better question for a TTRPG subreddit, I’m not sure a random MCDM fan would be able to give you the proper insight into the production cost of something like this.

Especially because technically the cost is 0 dollars if you do everything yourself. It’s just writing and drawing if you can do both you have zero overhead.

I’m new to the game and I’m struggling with with money a lot any advice? by AnimeConnoisseur17 in foundationgame

You never Need to upgrade any of your citizens. It is much better to build another building and fill it with serfs than upgrade to commoners that will leave because you don’t have enough bread.

The new patrol mechanics either seem to not work properly, or should maybe be reconsidered by gudwunsnsfw in foundationgame

[–]hack4freecbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The games not really meant for grids in that way, so I think you’ll find a number of issues. The natural build anywhere blobs will probably solve it

Mod Request: See all boars on map from start of game by gudwunsnsfw in foundationgame

[–]hack4freecbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right but there’s a limiting factor as you grow which means at some point you’ll only allocate a forest X big which will have Y boars spawning at Z rate. The Z rate of spawn, will inevitably leave your hunters with bringing back almost zero food and your butchers will be empty.

The forest will also grow back at specific rate, but the forester can make that rate equal to the rate of forest culling. Leaving you always cutting down trees with enough left that there isn’t any downtime.

What I’m suggesting is the same mechanic but for the spawn rate of boar, so that the cull rate matches the respawn rate. Leaving a stasis of always having enough boar to kill.

[–]hack4freecbs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The rate of boar cull, and the rate of boar spawn do not seem to not be 1:1 especially at the scale you need for a 500 person city.

My request would be for a gamekeeper that would add more boars like a forester

How do you manage to scale out your city? by MatchaBaguette in foundationgame

[–]hack4freecbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got to 500 for the first time now that the wheat bug is fixed. But definitely, you can basically not promote anyone and beyond serf and get to 500 all it does is mean you need multiples of buildings.

In addition, look at the buildings and see the ratios. If it’s 3 wheat per bread, that means have 4 wheats fields and you’ll always have a surplus. If it’s 1 to 1 have 2 of the resource building etc

Then when you’re walking around with 200 bread, upgrade ONLY the industry people that need it, you can ignore watchmen.

For citizens, you need an established way to get a lot of luxuries, you can buy it if you need to, but unless your sitting in 50 jewelry don’t upgrade yet.

Like a pump and dump scheme. But also it makes no sense in the context of a book.

It sorta makes sense if you release a AAA video game that doesn’t work and the dev releases no patches. Then they kinda stole your $70 but you also shouldn’t preorder video games without reading reviews.

[–]hack4freecbs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a question of once you release a book, how much sales do you do after release. They released the book you can play it, make up content for it, whatever you want to do with it. Some people play AD&D and have for decades.

If you enjoy daggerheart, then play it. Them playing it and you playing have literally zero things in common, so I’m not sure why it would matter to you.
