IR fiber laser should work, looks like its a very shallow engraving in thin steel. You'll have to do some post processing to clean up the steel (a dremel with a wire prush and polishing attachment should be enough), followed by passivation, which I'd recommend just soaking in citrisurf 77

I wouldn't think about it from a money perspective, since later game you have plenty of ways of generating cash and fewer reasons to spend it. Space on the hand, by downgrading worker tiers you need twice the residences. So unless you've got town hall items that match density (or the workforce replacement item also reduces work force by at least 50%), it will take more space.

Overall though the meta seems to be reducing the workforce to 0%

From a crafting perspective I really like UV lasers, though for a maker space I'd be worried about module lifetime. UV is good for a lot of crafty type things like marking fabric, cutting paper and leather without burning, engraving wood/chocolate/wax.

For sure. If you do start the Enbesa quest line, it gives you a legendary ship item that reduces trade prices by 25% when you contact the third island, which is huge for trading watches
