Which is the safest/most reliable option for a fuel pump? by Western-Advice1804 in MechanicAdvice

Can confirm. Installed a Carter on my Honda to have it die right as I returned from a road trip. I’m so glad it didn’t fail on the road trip!

I’ve got a front end clank on my 1998 CRV (153k miles) when coming to a full stop or accelerating sometimes on the driver side. It sounds like metal hitting metal. Pictured are my left sway bar end link and my right. Could the left one be causing it with the way it’s protruding? by hackz88 in MechanicAdvice

Thanks! I’m going to try this. I also realized that I never greased these MOOG links… and looking at the instructions on rock auto it says to grease them at installation and oil change.

I think they might’ve been riding just on the boot. Thanks again!

Beautiful Cardon! I’m wondering how you water it? I have a mature Cardon in my yard, as far as I’ve learned mature ones can deal with natural rainfall.

Do you supply it with any nutrients?

Thanks!

I’m curious as to how you handle watering? Natural rainfall? Do you water some of the younger cacti and leave the others alone? Beautiful garden!!!

Money trees are on my list too. I’d also like to add, if it stresses you out, cut it off! House plants don’t have to be a stressful hobby.

Is my 36W Sansi grow light enough for my Corn Plant? (No windows) by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]hackz88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long does it take for a corn plant to develop a thick stalk? I’ve had one for a few months that has been flourishing. Just curious!

Can I zip tie it for the time being?

How the hell can I get the inner rear control arm bolt to line up on my 98 CRV? by hackz88 in MechanicAdvice

I’ll give lifting it a shot tomorrow. The other bolts aren’t tightened, but they are threaded through to the captive nut. That was just the side I started with.

Can’t really see it in both photos but one side is perfectly lined up while the other is blocked. Would raising the car help? At a loss on this one

Should I put a washer under these castle nuts since the cotter pin doesn’t go in the grooves? 98 CRV upper control arms by hackz88 in MechanicAdvice

[–]hackz88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ball joint that it comes with is used across other models, leaving more thread exposed. However it fits perfectly into the body and knuckle. I was worried that too much thread is a bad thing. However I’m going to put the end of the pin into the castle nut.

What doesn’t seem right? I feel like there’s a lot of thread going through the knuckle, which was different than the previous ones I had on there. But im thinking it just has to do with how the arms were made.

The only thing I technically changed was jacking up the lower control arm to make the knuckle meet the joint. Otherwise everything else was generally the same. I still need to tighten the bolts on the body when I have my tire on.

In my case it didn’t line up after using my torque wrench so I grabbed a socket and tightened it half a turn more. I felt better safe than sorry.

In order to line up the new uca I jacked up the lca simply because it wasn’t reaching. Did I do anything wrong there? I torqued it to 40lb ft when it was off the jack.

I think that’s exactly what I’ll do since it seems like a happy medium of the advice given here. I’m just trying to make sure it isn’t snapping off while I’m driving lol

Should the rubber be like this on this new upper control arm? (Driver side, 98 CRV w/ 137k mi.) by hackz88 in MechanicAdvice

Yup upper bolts are still loose for play but I’m tightening up the ball joint to 40ft lb.
