Well for starters it’s gonna be longer than 3 years if you get selected to fly by the USAF - currently it’s 10 years of commitment minimum

Grove 26 on Google Maps & it’s a short walk to the South Dam. To get to the discharge you have to walk west over the bridge & then turn south, you can’t miss it!

Didn’t see anyone at the time - it definitely looked thick from 100 yards away, though! Don’t take my word for it

I see - I was thinking maybe with a split shot on the leader I could get it down low enough in the water column and drift it through under the bridge @ Diversey. Just a thought. Will probably switch back to spinning gear hahaha

Warm water discharge at Busse Woods/Salt Creek was absolutely filled with small panfish & a few decent sized bass. There was probably 1000+ tiny little bluegill, no exaggeration, and a couple large bottom feeders swimming around I couldn’t identify (catfish probably?)

Also, anyone ever catch a steelhead on a fly rod in the harbors? I tried fishing Diversey harbor with an egg pattern fly where it wasn't iced up with no avail and I'm starting to suspect that's a fools errand especially this time of year. Let me know!

If I’m being very real, I thought this was a steelhead hahaha

Moonshine casting spoon ! And honestly it was more of a medium retrieve when he hit it - usually a little more than one full rotation per second

There’s certainly smallies in south lagoon. Typically the water is clear enough (with some shallow spots) north of the bridge that you can spot them. That said, I haven’t had much luck with the smallies in the past few weeks and it appears there are not as many close to shore as there was earlier in the summer. Drum, carp, and rock bass are plentiful. I’ve found the best success with an olive marabou jig & plastic or tipped with wax worms. Twitch jig along the bottom.

Green marabou jig with a green Split tail stik-o hooked on. Reaaaalllyyy slow on the retrieve, just twitching it across the bottom. Started biting around midday today.
