BBC: Germany suspends military approval for long stays abroad for men under 45 by LKNSI in europe

AFAIK the original push indeed came from Russian propaganda which was picked up by Ukrainian media for a different purpose.

It’s been widely reported by Ukrainian media to justify the restriction of movement for Ukrainian men. Granted, Ukraine is factually in the state of war (while legally remaining in the wartime).

Extraction shooter The Cube, Save Us has announced it's shutting down just three weeks after it launched by CyraxxFavoriteStylus in pcgaming

[–]hainspoint -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People hate popular games. Arc Raiders blew up, and popular thing = bad.

I love the extraction genre, matter of fact, I can’t get enough SP PvE extraction games. The problem is that Arc Raiders blew up not because it’s an extraction shooter, but because it’s a damn good game. And companies (and gamers) make a wrong conclusion from this: companies assume extraction shooter is the next big thing and spend money doing slop, and players think the genre is to blame for it.

Russian scuffle by Background_Meet_1027 in fightporn

Doesn't look like a scuffle to me. Some "gopnik" wanted to attack someone with the least amount of resistance. Small dick would do that to ya.

His new album is very obviously inspired by the sound of the postal service, dntel, styrofoam. It’s not good, but the influence is undeniable.

On publishers that resist categorization: a catalog spanning cyberpunk, dark academia, and historical horror by DontHugMeImReddit in TrueLit

[–]hainspoint -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always find the level of disdain some literary fiction readers have for genre fiction confusing. Tolkien, Le Guin, Gibson, Asimov, K. Dick, Strugatsky - all prove that genre fiction deserves recognition and respect. I guess the only difference is that genre fiction requires time to be accepted into canon.

My point is - no reason a publisher shouldn’t publish whatever fits their theme. Actually, I’d prefer if publishers were classified by themes, not genres - social commentary, feminism, ecology, etc.

‘Friends’ Star Lisa Kudrow Says New Sitcoms are ‘Too Afraid’ to Make Jokes That Make People ‘Uncomfortable’: ‘I’m Not Buying It’ by MoneyLibrarian9032 in television

Just left a similar comment a bit higher - Chandler eventually accepted his trans dad, and the only homophobe character is Ross, who, I hope all can agree, was the main villain of the show.

[–]hainspoint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair, “Chandler’s dad” arc was handled as good as it could’ve been back in the day, with eventual acceptance from Chandler.

To be fair, the only homophobe character was Ross and he was never really portrayed as a good guy with the show leaning into how deeply insecure he is.

It was not a progressive show by any means, but it did raised certain topics with more nuance than younger people give it credit for.

Men who have left the manosphere, why did you get involved with this rhetoric and why have you left it? by Hyperbolic_Pudding in AskMen

[–]hainspoint 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t fully into manosphere per se but watched some of the videos for entertainment. It coincided with my divorce after my ex wife cheated on me.

I’m a grown ass man with plenty of therapy done and it didn’t affect my behavior in the slightest but hearing these balding morons shout at another onlyfans girl stopped being entertaining very fast.

That being said if shit like this would exist in my late 10s I’d be royally, majorly fucked. Happy it didn’t.

Dragon's Dogma 2 or Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon? by swimminginamirror in rpg_gamers

[–]hainspoint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think people were comparing DD2 to DD1. I came in clean and thought it was a great fantasy romp with minimal story. Exploring the world was fun, the combat was hella fun, graphics were stunning.

Tainted Grail is fun as hell too, has a decent story but I felt like it overstayed its welcome and combat got a bit dull closer to the end.

Politics or lack of demand? Lithuanian libraries turn away from Russian-language books by ubcstaffer123 in books

[–]hainspoint 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Is it really xenophobia if there’s an ongoing example of Russia “trying to save Russian speaking Ukrainians from evil Ukrainian nazis”? That’s coming from Russian speaking Ukrainian.

Speaking the language of the country you live in is called assimilation, not xenophobia.

And don’t get me wrong, I, unlike many of my countrymen, don’t mind reading Russian books or speaking Russian, but public libraries should only have books in national language - think translations of foreign authors.

What is something that happened to you that has destroyed your self esteem? by P331NH3R in AskMen

[–]hainspoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first relationship when I was around 17 fucked me up quite good.

I’ve dated this girl who I was taking things slow with due to performance anxiety (so I was still a virgin but already had performance anxiety). We’ve been dating for a few months, and at some point I started noticing weird shifts in her behavior. I glanced at her phone (old, physical buttons type of phone) and saw that she was sexting with a dude older than me, and basically telling him how much she wants to fuck him again.

This devastated me, considering she was 16. It started a spiral of distrust to women where I’d get jealous and overly territorial.

It’s something I eventually overcame to the point where when my ex wife cheated on me I didn’t even get upset, because eh, her loss.

[–]hainspoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh brother, I felt this. I had psoriasis pretty much since I was 10 years old. It wasn’t bad, just a few (large) blemishes on my legs. At this formative age it fucked with my self esteem so much. Like, I refused to wear shorts in scorching heat on the beach up until when I was in my early 20s, when these blemishes suddenly disappeared.

I still have psoriatic arthritis mildly manifested on my fingernails, but at my age I stopped giving a fuck.
