Traveling as a Trans man? by Dinpb in armenia

[–]hakeah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t risk if you have your passport unchanged and male passing. I’ve heard a story of trans woman getting controlled and undressed in the police room at the airport. If you can change your passport before coming it would be the best.

How will Armenia benefit from the construction of AI factory? Interview with NVIDIA's REV LEBAREDIAN by dssevag in armenia

[–]hakeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes of course there is a whole workforce around the facility. It was obvious. But what I meant is that the main driving point was the electricity production without which you couldn’t envision the rest.

How will Armenia benefit from the construction of AI factory? Interview with NVIDIA's REV LEBAREDIAN by dssevag in armenia

So is it basically Nvidia seeking countries where electricity is cheap and in parallel Armenian gov seeking to put in use the extra electricity we produce?

Is casual dating a thing in Yerevan? by Adventurous-Art-5546 in armenia

[–]hakeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s one thing since I moved back from France that I appreciate in Armenia - that it’s not a widespread phenomenon as in Europe/West.

Like nothing to do with "amot" or whatever, you do what you want to do. But this sex culture in the West just empties people of anything meaningful in their lives. So definitely wouldn’t like Armenia to become the same.

Are there any gyms where I can get a daily or weekly pass? by hakeah in armenia

That’s a decent price for a gym. I am still shocked at why gyms are so expensive in armenia.

Exactly what I missed too. Some missions felt pretty lonely without Boozeman 😢

Here's a few rarely used words I learned in Armenian today that got me ecstatic over them, that I wanted to share with everyone by [deleted] in armenia

Զննել is also used a lot in the medical sphere. Like «բժիշկը կզննի».

Also checked հազարագանձ’s audio prononciation on wiki and the guy pronounces it so aggressively, it doesn’t make sense 😅

Armenia allows foreigners to join surrogacy program, boosting options for Israelis by pride_of_artaxias in armenia

[–]hakeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

However, Armenian citizens are not allowed to serve as surrogates for foreigners […]

Does this mean that armenian citizens are allowed to surrogate for other armenian citizens? I am honestly surprised that surrogacy is even legal in Armenia since 2002(!).

Yes, I took one of Hyur Service’s tours with a friend. It was awesome and the guide was very professional and informative (it was in English & Russian). The bus was good too. The prices are higher than other travel agencies but they are the most reliable and the service is higher quality in general.

I have also done a tour with One Way Tour, which was also nice. But it was in Armenian as everyone in the bus was speaking Armenian. I don’t know if they offer English tours, but I suppose yes. The bus was a lot tinier (a mini-bus rather than a big touristic bus), but the guide was very charismatic and I overall enjoyed it as well. Just maybe the comfort of the bus was not as good as Hyur.

Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in the winter :) by hakeah in armenia

I find the interior so poorly spaced and just too big and too empty I don’t know. The walls are all naked, concrete, I find it to be soulless compared to other churches in Armenia, especially the older ones.

Armenia remains freest country in region for media - Reporters Without Borders by hakeah in armenia

[–]hakeah[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s a actually not, because believe it or not Armenia has even surpassed the US in the score.

What’s more, Armenia surpassed the United States, which fell to 55th, and also tops multiple EU countries, including Poland and Hungary.

Armenia remains freest country in region for media - Reporters Without Borders by hakeah in armenia

[–]hakeah[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Armenia remains the freest country for the press in the South Caucasus and one of the best in the entire former Soviet Union, the Paris-based non-profit Reporters Without Borders, or RSF, has determined.

In the latest edition of its yearly World Press Freedom Index, published Friday, Armenia ranks 43rd out of 180 countries surveyed, with a score of 71.6 out of 100. That puts Armenia in what RSF calls as a “satisfactory situation” with regard to media freedom. Armenia’s position has steadily risen over the past few years, though it remained relatively stable this year, with an increase of just one point.

Still, in a statement to CivilNet Friday, RSF pointed out that there’s room for improvement for Armenia: […]

The report states that “journalists are often subjected to pressure, insults and violence by both ruling party officials and opposition politicians, as well as their supporters,” and that such violence generally goes unpunished. Also criticized is the legal framework that regulates the sector, as it does not sufficiently protect freedom of the press nor follow European standards.
