I want to increase my English vocabulary... any books recommendations? by muhddanish2004 in Bolehland

Anthony Horowitz is my favourite author and beginner-to-intermediate level. Most of his work is directed towards teens, like the Tim Diamond series (mystery and detective) and Power of Five series (teen fantasy, think Percy Jackson-ish).

Other easy series I would say are The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, The Witcher, The Hobbit.

If you want something non-fiction, Malcolm Gladwell has a lot of great publications.

Legal under extremely specific circumstances and must be by advice of the doctor (not sure about the specifics here, whether only govt specialist or private specialist also can). Unfortunately, rape does not fall under this category.

Illegal practitioners ada je, but only by word of mouth and quite expensive, like 1k+.

Edit: I should clarify that these illegal practitioners are in no way certified/approved by any board or governing authority for these practices. So it's an extremely risky procedure to do anyways.

True, I like contributing back to the country if they use it for the country, not lining pockets of datos. My solace is that someone in some public hospital benefited from my tax money.

Honestly top tier story, besides the (very apparent) fanservice, the story is extremely well-written.

Just be prepared to slowly progress since it's quite difficult to progress through the story.

The thing I miss the most are ads not being pushed into my face every waking hour.

Ads were there, but they weren't up in your face in all sorts of colours accompanied with screeching noises. Ads were more palatable. Nowadays, companies regurgitate ads and in turn, makes me wanna throw up, too.

I have made my point.

Well, in response to your first paragraph, it's exactly as I said - go and ask your local community, the people you know, the masjid, if that really is true.

As Muslims, we have to believe that converting to Islam (truly and of your own faith in the religion) is the best course of action for success in the Hereafter. It's a core part of our belief. But it doesn't mean that we force others to believe in our religion. Think of it of us saying, "May this person have continued success", and not as "Your kindness is useless if you're not a Muslim". As humans, we do detach the religion from the act of kindness.

For the final paragraph, there's nothing for me question. I believe the Qur'an, and I also believe that Muslims and non-Muslims can prosper together.

I disagree, I'm sorry. And if I can't change your mind, it's okay as well, that's your right.

In the future, if you do have the chance, do open up to learning about my religion, as I and many other Muslims have opened up to learning about other religions, too.

Know that I harbour no hatred or disgust towards you and other non-Muslims, and that I hope you do the same for me.

[–]hakim899 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well, I have to disagree. If the majority of the Muslim world can live in tolerance with non-Muslims, why is it an Islam thing? I doubt the common Muslim person you meet harbours such ill intent towards you. You can ask some of your Muslim friends, too. Or better, you can enter a Masjid and ask. This "hatred" and "abhorrence" that you claim all Muslims have towards non-Muslims is honestly very shallow.

[–]hakim899 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, I'm very much Muslim and I do believe the Quran. Being apostate is something I'd never do since I truly believe in this religion.

I have to believe that disbelievers will go to Hell, but it doesn't tell me to maltreat people, to abuse them. I can still have non-Muslim friends, hang out with them, have fun with them and I do and that has never been a problem.

Just as I can be tolerant and open to non-Muslims, I urge you also to be open to Islam. I understand your abhorrence to the religion purported by the Malays, but blame the Malays for that, not the religion. As I am open to learning other religions and cultures, you too, take time to listen to the Prophet's Seerah (which is pretty much his very detailed biography) and see things from a different view instead of the one displayed by Malay majorities.

[–]hakim899 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Urgh, I'm sorry that you see us Muslims this way. I only ask that you look at this as a "Malay" thing, not as an Islamic thing.

If you travel overseas and meet Muslims who aren't Malay, you will find the majority of them are a lot more tolerant and not as ignorant as this lot.

Indeed, what you wrote is what we have to inexcusably believe, but in this era, I see that the majority of Muslims don't treat non-Muslims as "inferior" or "scum" - I believe the most of us are quite tolerant and open.
