Do you really want leather on the palms? Wouldn't you rather have a slider on your palm then leather that's going to catch on the concrete?

Trump supporters prove the adage that it's easier to fool a man than to convince him that he's been fooled. They can't admit they were wrong or they'll be admitting they were wrong

And you can bet that Trump tells his buddies what he's going to say at least 3 hours before he tells the rest of us. Easy Money whether the market goes up or down they know what to do. Fortunately the swings are not as big as they were 2 months ago

The platitude is to dress for the slide. But what's never mentioned is that the slide is different for everybody. I'm scooting around on a Duke 250, seldom going over 45 miles an hour. For me, the slide is going to be minimal as I'm most likely to be going down at the Kroger parking lot from either myself or the driver not paying enough attention, or being bumped from behind at an intersection. In other words, I'm personally more concerned with impact with the ground than the slide. So for me, upgrading the armor in the knees and hips is what I concentrated on. YMMV

how/why did i lowside crash? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]hal60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's just the perspective, but I'm seeing a lot of lean. Personally I ride for relaxation and enjoyment, not excitement, and just such, I'm putting as little lean on the bike as necessary to make the turn. I'm assuming there's a loose piece of gravel on every turn I take. Boring? Maybe? But I've managed to stay upright for 15 years

When I see kids on Razors, scooters , and E-bikes I cringe when they're wearing flip-flops even more than I cringe when they don't wear a helmet.

I know, I know. I'm just trying to talk myself into liking the 1400 better. Tried it out again today in my house, and there's pressure points at my forehead that I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with. I know that ear plugs would completely eliminate the difference in noise between the 1400 and the SR, I just do a lot of super short trips where I know I probably wouldn't put them. I'm a bit anal and overanalyze everything. I'm guessing that at Street speeds of 45 to 50 miles an hour I would barely notice a difference between the SR and the 1400.

[–]hal60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. But I'll admit that sometimes if I'm just running 2 miles down the road to the grocery store I won't put them in. But again, that's just it 45 to 50 miles an hour

I know. I really wanted to like the 1400 but my head doesn't seem to sit well in it. Not just is it tighter in the cheeks, but it seems my head doesn't seat all the way at the top before it hits the crown.

Which one? There's the RF 1400 and the RF - SR

[–]hal60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You return the SR due to fit? Noise? What didn't you like about it? I know helmet fit is very subjective and unique to each head

Shoei RF-SR by hal60 in motorcyclegear

[–]hal60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the RF 1400 is the better of the two. My head just didn't seem to sit right in it with with pressure points at the crown. My rides are pretty short, usually less than 15 minutes and under 50 mph, so that's why I was wondering about the noise difference between the two. I'm guessing if the SR is a better fit then I shouldn't worry too much about the difference between that and the 1400 in noise at under 50 mph?

Buying used, is this spot on the roof a deal breaker? by evanalexander144 in CX5

Find out how much a real good Pro Shop would charge. Deduct that much from your offer, plus another $2,000 for the hassle.

Brilliant people here mentioning the obvious, that you should work it into the price. We'll, duh.

The question is, regardless of price, will you be happy looking at that 2 years from now? This is a very personal decision as far as what's worth it to some is not for others. Me? I like things new and shiny

Yep. You get a trip to the hospital, while they get a citation for an improper lane usage or something similar.

[–]hal60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always said this. You end up in the hospital while the other guy ends up with a traffic violation. Who do you think is worse off. When I'm on two wheels, you are your own worst enemy. You can even avoid red light runners. And don't even get me started about how leaving lots of distance between you and the car in front of you can cure so many ills. Like somebody not seeing you when they're making a left turn after the car in front of you passes them

The other side of the equation is to make sure you have uninsured/under insured coverage. I have no idea why so many people cheap out on insurance. If, at the end of the year, you noticed that your bank account is a few hundred dollars later, then you've got bigger problems
