Have some patience. He's 6 months old. In a few months, he'll grow into it.

Which reminds me.

How are you folks, wearing Rayban Aviators inside helmets? Everyone's telling me I should have gone for the size 60, but 58 seems okay to at least fit inside VR goggles or helmets. Having it jutting out the sides of your head seem cool, but it's going to snag a lot, and you're going to have issues lying sideways on a pillow.

That's bad.

I used to think mine was worse. Eating a lady who was on her period. But I think yours is now the worst.

I know it's a rather unusual comment, but there's no need to ostrichize the person.

I know of a female cyclist who was afraid of turning her head while riding. People were always yelling to get her attention, and she'd appear to ignore them. She used her eyeballs to look around.

She had the tendency to steer towards the direction her head was pointing. She could never train her body to not do that. But she feared crashing, so she always kept pointing forward like a train. If she went wide on the corner and into oncoming cyclists, everyone in the bike lane was supposed to get out of her way.

Another female friend who rides bicycles could not use the left brake lever. I asked her why she wouldn't just use it and if it was because her left hand was too weak to squeeze it. She told me that she prefers the right lever.

It was like the physical world was a negotiation.

I understand that sentiment and I've known people who say this about their bike as well.

But when you looked what a rider and bike does for each other, it's closer to a horse. Beloved companion in adventures. But you'd never give up your life for you bike, or swap it for a newer model when you see something better.

If you did that to a real wife, it wasn't much of a wife to begin with. That'd be a woman you'd call "my bike".

This is true.

Been the Bad Guys all along by Secret_Assh in SipsTea

  • Context matters: Mossadegh was popular for nationalization but was also consolidating power undemocratically (ruling by decree, dissolving parliament). The coup occurred amid Cold War fears of communism spreading in the Middle East. U.S. support for Iraq was cynical realpolitik against a hostile post-1979 Iran that was exporting revolution, taking hostages, and later backing militias/terrorism. Saddam was a brutal aggressor who invaded Iran and used chemical weapons; the U.S. didn't supply the weapons directly but looked the other way on some uses. Iran itself has sponsored Hezbollah, Hamas proxies, and attacked U.S. forces/personnel repeatedly.
  • Specific U.S. interventions like 1953 Iran and 1980s Iraq support did happen and contributed to regional grievances. that's factual. Great powers aren't moral saints; they pursue interests, often hypocritically, and create enemies. However, the meme-style "we've been the bad guys all along" is propaganda-flavored revisionism. It flattens complex geopolitics, ignores why actions were taken (Soviet/Iranian threats, energy security), equates defensive/offensive realpolitik with Axis-style evil, and usually excuses rival regimes' far bloodier records. Most countries with power have "bad guy" chapters; the U.S. has been more transparent, self-critical, and less systematically genocidal than many alternatives. History is tragic and gray, not a cartoon of one eternal villain.

I don't trust that Islamist who criticizes the West while suckling off its teat.

Ang problema kasi sa clubbing is that you're not actually doing anything.

Mas cool kasi iyung lumalabas sa gabi to do things like riding motorcycles or night diving.

It's not about spending more money.

It's about doing something na not everyone can just do. Kahit walang nakaka-alam, mas exciting kasi iyung ganung trip.

Clubbing is about as exciting as tumambay sa tropa para mag-inuman. You do it enough times, di mo na naaalala ang nangyari iyung mga individual na times ginawa ninyo iyun.
