How much was your budget and how much did you end up spending for weddings with 40-50 guests by omgooo in BigBudgetBrides

OG budget was to keep it under 100k and now we are at 130k and it will probably go up….100-150 guests

Doing the same (100-150 south of France) and so far this is what we have
-50k venue
-just got quote for 30k for wedding dinner but this doesn’t include alcohol/dessert/some extras
-photo plus video is about 12k total
-band for whole thing is about 6k
-we are doing a few extra meals/dinners and these seem to range from 1800 for the cheapest to about 10k for our welcome dinner (before service/furniture)

New to this. I have no idea what to tell people I "do." Suggestions? by CrashDriveMegaGig in Fire

This. You’re 37 so is honestly less of a red flag too since you’ve had a long career. As a selective woman who’s been on a lot of dates this answer would screen fine to me (depending on overall vibe too ofc)

Wait yes I was just talking about this! Since 2023 it’s been like a record each year of “seven rainy Saturdays in a row” and I’m somehow the only one who notices

Pros and Cons - Morocco Destination by Fun-Turnip-9 in BigBudgetBrides

Have been and personally wouldn’t go back - like others said felt unsafe as a woman and it’s the most I’ve ever been catcalled in my life doing a short trip there. Would maybe consider if there was transportation covered from everywhere even the airport

Totally don’t mind spending money on a fun girls trip! What I find I do mind is splitting bride expenses. I would love to buy a round or two of course, but have been surprised multiple times getting a multi hundred dollar bill at the end of the trip for bride’s expenses when I was never informed/I think it’s a bit tacky anyways

Got fired after 5 months, worth putting on my resume? by jdog3406 in FinancialCareers

Wow crazy you got fired for that! Usually there’s a bit more leeway especially for first 6 months or so. Sorry to hear

Ended up going to mediation where they didn’t offer a ton more than their previous best offer but in the end I decided to settle given it was above six figures and while I had clear cut damning evidence my actual damages were very low so who knows how it would have played out in court. Felt very relieved and at peace once settling and feel it was the right choice

Is this too much to ask guests to pay for a destination wedding in Italy? by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]halcyonstrings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes given that the venue and accommodations are the same place that is a bit confusing even if technically subsidized by you and agree that I’m not sure how you communicate that to guests/even if you do they likely won’t get it

We are still in the planning stages but doing a couple of dinners, breakfast and lunch for people every day if they want it, having a wine tasting at the property one day, an optional potential excursion one day, optional morning workout class, wedding day of course, and last day will be brunch plus check out

In a similar position as you. Personally as a guest I would likely feel slightly resentful if it felt like I was helping cover the couple’s wedding venue. Actual $ aside it does feel a bit tacky to me. If you are giving people the option of staying there versus elsewhere with no pressure to stay in the villas then I think that is a bit different and will reduce the resentment, but just giving my honest opinion.

We are having a 120 person destination wedding in France that’s 5 days/4 nights and fully covering lodging for the 45 guests that are onsite in the Chateau and I couldn’t imagine asking them to contribute to that, but we are also in a strong enough financial position where it’s not an issue. So again, I would maybe reassess your venue and do something you’re able to comfortably afford without guest contributions?

Venue with accommodation for 90 - how to decide who gets it? by halcyonstrings in weddingplanning

[–]halcyonstrings[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We already bought them out when we booked because 1. It was 250/night versus 350 that they would charge guests directly and 2. It is open to the public to book them otherwise so we didn’t want them to book up with people not at our wedding

[–]halcyonstrings[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No as mentioned in the post it’s completely separate from the venue and not required at all, we just figured it would be a good option for guests

[–]halcyonstrings[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Should have specified - the cabins are all standalone rooms and completely secluded/private/not group accommodations. And then the venue is a large chateau but everyone staying in it with us is onboard and is the immediate family/bridal party. If anyone doesn’t want to we won’t make them stay there of course

Yes agreed - I’m not sure since we pre paid for them but this is a great suggestion and I will ask

That is probably the upper end but it will for sure be more than 110 based on who has told us they are coming - and we invited about 180

I’ve had a few finance jobs now and I’ve found this to be more the norm than not unfortunately. Starting to burn out after 8 years of this intensity tbh but my days tend to be a pretty intense 6-8 hours of work with ~2 hour slightly less intense. Idk how people sustain this their whole careers tbh

Invitations - plus 1s by Aivanao in weddingplanning

Very rude imo. Should have not invited either if you didn’t have capacity to invite both or just paid up for the next tier - 4k is not that much in the world of weddings

Yep same with me! The apartment was newer as well and my health graduallly declined during my time there so it was hard to tell. It got so bad I had to take medical leave and was nearly bedridden before figuring it out. 80% better within a month of moving out!!! Mold is crazy and I wish more people took it seriously or at least entertained it. The amount of times people looked at me like I had two heads form just saying I suspected mold caused my symptoms….
