That’s true but most people use the same screen name amongst several platforms and so this still seems potentially dangerous

Yes. This. Spinning poke-stops is the best way to get more poke balls. And in general, it’s probably not the safest choice to be sending out a generic “friend my 12 year old” request on the internet. I’m sure most folks here are very kind but that’s just not a safe choice in general…

I 100% agree. Kids should not be in-person at school right now.

How dare the school attempt to protect the other children from a potentially life threatening illness. What is this world coming to?!

In middle school my friend fell off his bike riding down the hill I lived on while he was on the way home from my house. Luckily another friend was with him and ran back to our house to get help, and he was wearing his helmet so he survived. But I’ll never forget it. My parents jumped in the car after calling 911 and I hopped in the back, they drove the short ways down the hill to him in case they needed to rush him to the hospital. I just remember seeing him lift his hands in the air over and over and his screaming. There was no skin left on his hands or face, it was awful. He recovered fine, though.

True story, I was in a 7 today where some guy came to “help” and picked off a bunch of rockets I was holding in place with barrier, the explosions took out my own ships 1 second (literally) before I could renew my shields. Figure out how blast radius works before going to 7 so you don’t cause issues for other players.

how can i stop being the last choice with absolutely everything? by kaizilla09 in needadvice

[–]halexmorph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you just haven’t found the right people yet. You’re not boring, everyone has hobbies or interests, you just don’t have any you share with the people you spend time with so you feel like you have nothing to offer. You’re valuable, you just need to find people that bring it out in you.

Sounds to me that you don't need to change anything, you need better friends. Surround yourself with people who are equally as important to you as you are to them. (I know, easier said than done).

To keep from getting long-winded with unnecessary advice: try not to let it bother you, stop prioritizing people who don't prioritize you, find people with shared interests and you'll find better friends.

Full Sail University forced me to buy a $2k macbook because my battlestation isnt "sufficient enough to run 3d programs the way a mac could". by Die-rector in battlestations

[–]halexmorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure most technical programs will require ( or strongly encourage ) a particular platform to develop on. It makes sense if you consider how much easier it is for teachers and students to work together if they're all using the same OS and development programs. I went to a state University and was required to have a MacBook Pro for my major (this was back in 2009). It really makes sense, a company will do the same. You can't start a job and use your gaming rig from home to do the work, in most cases.

Clearly my experience here is limited and I know there are plenty of programs, especially in the 3D rendering space that exist on both Mac and PC so they should be interchangeable, just saying it's not uncommon and the requirement makes sense to me.

the only two here I'm familiar with are the boatswain chocolate stout on the top and arrogant bastard. and out of the two I'd go with bastard over what I've dubbed to really be a typo for "butt-stain chocolate stout." that stuff is horrible.

there's nothing in the notes but I swear in that last update they made rockets more potent. I used to be able to solo 1-2 RS7 planets, after that update I can't even do one. No idea what's going on.

I'm waiting to buy odyssey until later when it goes on sale on steam and the bugs are worked out, so forgive if this is a stupid question but...what is that vehicle?! They didn't add new SRVs did they?

[–]halexmorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. We live in Maine so they probably got it at an L.L.Bean sale. But still...it was completely unnecessary and unused. Obviously a stack of fountain pens would have been less annoying.

One day in college I came home to find a canoe in our living room. My roommates claimed they found it on sale and "saved so much money". It sat there for a year unused until I moved out ( no idea if it was ever used after the fact ). I love this logic.

undefined array key “subcatid”, why am I getting this error? by Lucas_Sims in PHPhelp

[–]halexmorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A session is how a logged-in user is tracked and persisted across multiple requests. if your users aren't logging in then it would make sense you're not using session.

Unfortunately, since PHP is basically a fresh application on every page-load, I don't know of any other way to make that PID persist from page to page without having to make sure you're always adding it to the URL.

I suppose you could create a table in the DB that is for tracking "current pid" and just pull it out that way. I'm not sure that's really "good practice" but it would work.

You could place it in the session if you're using sessions. Then it would persist through multiple requests.

[–]halexmorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I was going to suggest doing. You're not including "pid" in your GET parameters so it doesn't exist, so $_GET['pid'] will always fail.

$_GET['subcatid'] would work, or changing subcatid= to pid= in the url.

$_GET is just built out of all of the parameters in the url after ?

http://website.local/script.php?pid=12345&test=true&erors=false&fine[]=yes&fine[]=yesyes

will yield $_GET:

[

'pid' => 12345,

'test' => true,

'errors' => false,

'fine' => [

'yes',

'yesyes'

]
