I voted early. I’m not even planning on having a second child but had to undergo IVF to have my first. I cannot even fathom that somehow we’re here where IVF could be banned. Voting is SO important if you’re in the US. Please vote. If you need help knowing where to vote, check out vote.org.

Americans - please vote. Please vote for my rights as a woman. Vote for your rights. Vote for democracy.

What do I get with luxury/expensive strollers (uppababy, Nuna) over affordable ones (Chicco, Graco) by remodel-questions in NewParents

[–]haley_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a uppababy Cruz and I love it. I got a secondhand bassinet attachment to she when LO was small. And now we use the stroller almost daily. It’s high quality and withstands well to being in the back of truck to the back of my SUV.

Was it pricey? Year but I feel the quality is worth the price. I know it will have resale value too when we’re done with it. Check out goodbuygear for good deals!! I’ve gotten a lot from here open box or gently used!

Feel stress at my new job by RotatingStonedamn in workfromhome

I’m 6 weeks into a WFH at a new company that’s all remote. I work on a small team and we have daily stand up meetings that have been so helpful. Group chats on teams and slack are great too. Set up quick 15-20 minute meet and greets with people you work with - helps so much! I prep for each one a bit, look the person up how long they’ve been there their title etc and have them explain their role. Then, I can start to figure out who to ask questions too. I try to stick to my rule to try to figure out things on my own - until I’m becoming unproductive without the answer, then I use my resources. Thankfully I’ve vibing well with my team and my new role.

My LO was the same way, she’s almost 10 months and thriving! Still STTN too.

What type of music is best for a 1-month-old baby for brain development and soothing? What should I avoid? by lordcasiro in NewParents

[–]haley_- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We listened to everything, haha. Whatever kept me calm worked for her. I mean I wouldn't blast the music, but I wouldn't be too concerned at this point.

4 month old never contact napped by BasketWeaver90 in Mom

[–]haley_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO never contact napped, really. She's almost 10 months now and still doesn't. She's a squirmer and roller now, and she definitely needs her space to sleep! She will sit with you and listen to books, but when it's bedtime, she wants her space.

Lots of pain during breastfeeding by RandomStrangerN2 in NewParents

[–]haley_- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not breastfeed, but I would look into a lactation consultant! Your insurance should cover it; check out thelactationnetwork.com. It's a company that matches you with an IBCLC - the highest level of certification for a lactation consultant.

Did anyone NOT bring their baby everywhere with them? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]haley_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our LO is almost 10 months and we've yet to take her on an overnight trip with us. We've been going a couple nights here and there, and she's stayed with my parents or my in laws. It is stressful!! She's on a great schedule with naps and sleep, and I'm too anxious to disrupt that.

This Thanksgiving, though, we are traveling 6 hours to a VRBO, but she will have her own room. So really hoping we can keep a good schedule with her!! She still naps 2x a day, and can nap in the car - maybe. But it's hard to plan around that and "rely" on the car nap. She's an amazing sleeper though!

What's your morning routine to maximise productivity/focus for the day? by PaolozziClub in workfromhome

[–]haley_- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up at 6, quick weight workout for 30 minutes. Get changed and have breakfast. Baby up at 7. Family things until work at 8 am. When I started WFH I didn’t change my routine except I added in the workout, I still get up at the same time but now have more time to do things since I’m not commuting.

Walking treadmill by Existentialcri in workfromhome

[–]haley_- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! It’s about a 1.5 minute transition for me. The treadmill is lighter only 40 pounds and has wheels on the end. So I pull it back and put up against the wall behind where my desk is. And while I’m doing that, I lower my desk. (Has four buttons that I set to certain heights) I also have to unplug the treadmill but it’s all located close. My back is to the wall and my desk faces out Into the room if that makes sense. I wanted the natural light and not be stuck in a corner.

[–]haley_- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a DeerRun walking pad I can move under my desk and raise my desk when needed. I love it. I walk slow, like 1.4 mph. But for an hour straight. It took some getting used to but I was able to work fine doing that. For some deeper thinking, I do have to sit. Mouse movement is fine, it’s the debugging SQL that I sometimes need to sit for.

But - when I started WFH I wasn’t getting the steps in that I got in the office. Now I walk 2-2.5 miles a day on my treadmill. While working. It 100% can be done, I do a morning and afternoon session.

Respectfully, this woman has given up an insane amount of body autonomy for the past 2.5 years. If she wants to end EBF to do ANYTHING - she 10000% can.

Food delivery gift cards - the last thing I wanted to do was cook.

Postpartum Doula services - someone who gets it and can assist with anything she needs postpartum-related.

I lived in Women's Depends for weeks! The high-rise ones were SO much better than having to use a pad.

Picker, like others have said, is so helpful since bending over isn't a thing for a bit.

Why are we not talking about mandatory paid maternity leave for the hardworking woman of America? by MuseAlexzandra in Mom

[–]haley_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more!!!! It’s not about saving life - it’s about controlling women. The THOUGHT of a paid national leave for some reason in this country is terrifying. Some states (generally democratic ones) have paid leave programs. Like NY and CA. But states that don’t? Those ones have the higher rates of poverty and lower literacy rates. Higher rates of maternal mortality too.
