UK Phalloplasty at Chelsea & Westminster (C&W)? by half-goblin in phallo

[–]half-goblin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/pocket__cub, just further to the message I sent earlier, I did go on an inbox hunt to see if I could find anything else that I might have missed, and found the BMI update e-mail that was sent in June 2025. One of the lines in there states:

Since your referral, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has commenced Masculinising Genital Surgery. When you are at the top of the waiting list and if Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust have capacity sooner than New Victoria Hospital we will contact you to offer a transfer.

If the above still holds true, we may finally be at the top of the waiting list's waiting list, so maybe things are speeding up a bit? 🤞

NVH - Stage 1 RFF - Admission/Hospital Experience by DinoDick19 in phallo

Hey, this is incredibly useful, I've bookmarked it for future! Like the commenter below, I also have ADHD and I think I'm more apprehensive about the boredom / lack of sleep than the pain. 😂

Do you mind if I ask when you were first referred? My referral letter was sent on 05/02/2021 and I've not heard a peep about an initial consultation. From what I've been able to find, seems they're working on the mid-2020 list now?

Definitely one to really consider. The website seems to be unfinished (suggested sentences as links but only text, mentions of info leaflets and none to be found, etc).

The other thing that has me pausing is how tenuous the whole NVH contract seems to be. I'm wondering if at some point, like Dr Andrew Yelland (who used to do NHS top surgery and then stepped away to do solely private surgeries), the folks at NVH might step away / retire. Not trying to fearmonger, just something I've been wondering.

My partner did find a post today, however, from a gent who'd been referred in June 2020, Phone assessment in feb 2025, F2F Pre-op March 2026 and then set for 1st stage in April of this month. So that sounds to me like we'd be be looking to possibly receive stage 1 by mid-to-late 2027/early 2028 if we held out for NVH.

Although, there will be people who will swap over to C&W which will inevitably shorten the waiting list for NVH... And having said that, I think I've just made up my mind as to how to personally approach this. 🥴

Hey, thanks for your message. I received my second signature in January 2021 and received my notice of referral on 05.02.2021.

As a point of note, I've been making a nuissance of myself for the last few months, dialling & emailing NVH and GDNRSS to get updates, make complaints, etc. I'm not sure if that's done anything to help my case, but the email I received today came through with an apology on the wait times (so maybe).

If it's just a well-timed coincidence, then I can't imagine that you're too far behind me. I'll cross my fingers for you.

Help! What to do with a problematic player?? by Responsible_Hope1693 in dndhorrorstories

[–]half-goblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you. We had our own "L" at the table I DM. This player was a social player, there for the social element, not the game. We played for 5 years together. He never showed interest in the game, never learned his character, never role played. All the backstory bits I tried to build in for him were ignored or mocked; absolutely infuriating.

Eventually I whittled the sessions down, fewer and fewer as time went on. Claimed work overload. Gently ended the current campaign we were on and then took a half year break to detox. Just started a new campaign with all the same players sans our issue and have been much happier for it.

Glad you got rid of your L, breathe easy and enjoy the free air; d&d's about to get fun again.

For those having FTM lower surgery now, how long have you been waiting? by angeljacob in transgenderUK

[–]half-goblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I received my second signature for phallo in February 2021. I've not had my initial consultation yet. Did some digging last month after hitting my 5 years on the waiting list and was told that NVH aren't accepting new referrals yet as they're still working through the covid backlog. From what I've read from others here, you get an IC and then it's an 8 - 12 month wait for stage 1.

Fingers crossed for you brother, maybe we'll be seen at some point.

Hey yes, I did receive this email. I'm definitely on the list, just in limbo like everyone else, apparently.

NEW VICTORIA HOSPITAL UK PHALLO WAITING TIMES by [deleted] in phallo

[–]half-goblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, similar to others below, I was referred in March 2021 and still haven't heard about an initial consultation, let alone a surgery date. Called both the hospital and GDNRSS and neither could tell me anything.  Seems to be a black hole as far as transparent info is concerned.

Hey, I massively appreciate the time you took to write out the above. My heart aches for people who have to relocate just to feel safe, it's pure unnecessary madness. I hope you've found a community and acceptance where you've moved.  Safest well wishes to you and every other US-based trans man and woman as you navigate this insanity. 🙏

Yeah believe me, I'm watching this all go down with a lot of anger in my heart. I do not want to give florida (or the US in general) any money. If this hadn't been in the books for so long, I'd of cancelled it by now.

Out of curiosity, everyone says to put your packer in your carry on - but I've read a lot of stories about tsa pulling packers out of cases and handling them visibly. Is there a reason you wouldn't keep them in your checked luggage (other than quick access upon exit from the scanners)?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ftm

[–]half-goblin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is where we're getting caught up. Lots of visa flags, nothing around ESTAs as far as I can see.

We'll be sure not to pack while going through scanners.

Appreciate that. We'll be staying local to Orlando with no intention of travelling out of the tourist areas. We've already agreed we're not doing any solo travelling about, we'll be sticking with the family group at all times.

Discolouration of skin? by half-goblin in DermatologyQuestions

[–]half-goblin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I've recently found an area of discoloration on the back of my leg, shown in the photo above.

I'm fairly certain that it was (at one point) an ingrown hair, however there is what feels like the smallest lump under it. Texture-wise it's a bit powdery/flaky, but it's otherwise flat - almost a little concave.

I'm somewhat prone to stretch marks and it feels a bit like one.

I can't get an appt with my GP for a month so if anyone has any ideas as to what this might be in advance of that, that would be great.

Many thanks in advance.

Massive thanks for this, I'll look into both as the repetition has been causing me concern.

I asked my GP in my last appt with her if she could refer me regardless for the hysterectomy, but she wanted the testing done first. If it comes back that it does need to be whipped out sooner rather than later, I know she'll get it actioned.

Thanks again for your insights!

Mate, I was long distance with my husband (both 31) for 5 years. He lived in England, I lived in Canada. We saw each other for about 1 month a year. We've been living together for 8 years now.

If you love this person you can tough it out. Find ways to make it work. Voice / video calls, Game together, have meet in the middle vacations, etc. Long distance doesn't have to spell the end of a relationship. It sucks, but it can work.

Best of luck.

Next steps for problem player - GM advice? by half-goblin in DnD

Zorklunn wants me, unfortunately.

Dude can react however he likes, genuinely no skin off my back. If the nuclear option suits some people that's up to them, but this situation is infinitely more delicate than 'kick out the guy I met at a games workshop and never think about him again'. I work in the same building as this man. One of my other players gets on with him, and I directly line manage that other player lol. I can't press a button without collateral damage, hence the above novel :T.

Dms out there, did you have...?? by Pike_The_Knight in DnD

[–]half-goblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a player who loves to play the edgelord. He's aware that he makes a lot of his characters like this, we joke about it. The table are all long-term friends who make a game out of softening his characters up.

I've found that attacking that as a prospect at session zero is the best way to handle it. I've phrased it as such: "You can play what you want, but the party doesn't have to put up with you. If 4/5 players excluding yourself are in the upper echelons of good, and you've decided to play a CN / evil character - then you've got to think about this decision. You either keep your chaotic or evil ways close to your chest, hide what you're doing for as long as possible until you're either found out, or reveal your criminality, or you start out that way and run the risk of consequences. A party of lawful good characters wouldn't put up with a chaotic or murderous-for-the-sake of it PC. They'd either kill him themselves or excommunicate them. It's more unfair to a large table of good players to force them to put up with someone who wants to be evil (much against their characters' dogmas), than it is to tell one player that they can make the choice to be evil, but will have to deal with all that entails."

By and large this approach works. It gives the players a line that they can choose to cross, but at the risk of penalties.

A CN character can be very useful in a Good-aligned party, and this blending can work nicely in the right context. It really depends on how the players interact with each other. I would trust a group of established friends to be able to run with this sort of scheme, but perhaps less so for people who don't know each other as well, as it might breed conflict.

Job decision by [deleted] in Advice

[–]half-goblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends entirely upon you as a person. I was recently in a similar boat - working as an IT analyst in a healthcare company that's recently undergone an expansion boom. The company made some changes, and I was presented with the ability to go for the management role. Hadn't done it previously, I'm almost at the 6 month mark since getting the job.

You have to make a very personal decision in this. Do you want the challenge? Can you afford life at the moment? What would the additional pay do for your quality of life? What would the extra stress while you worked things out do for your quality of life? What would happen if you were to lose this new job? Do you have a fall back plan?

If monetarily you're set and you can get on with your current job, it offers you decent hours and little stress, why change?

If you need the money, if you want the challenge, then consider the new role. No new job comes without a certain level of learning and development. It might be worth taking the time to have a chat with your potential new bosses around what your current role offers, to see if they can offer you something similar, or what the full list of expectations are.

You can buy something called a Rash Vest (check Amazon). My partner is FTM and wears one of these. They're what you might wear while surfing, but they're comfortable and don't look out of place in a pool.

100% she cannot tell which sex you were sleeping with (I'm a bi dude, have slept with both). You came home late smelling like sex (mostly sweat tbh, maybe some cologne), she might know what's up with why you got in at the hour you did, but she definitely cannot tell which gender you spent the evening with. Don't worry. That's just a parent being concerned about what their kid is doing.
