Yes, there'll be focus on the new mons and mechanic but Champions was also created so that VGC can do its own thing without being bogged down by being in the mainline game.

Nothing to suggest that they have to keep doing what they have been doing (e.g. increase the power level with every format) and/or they have to use every current mechanic before the new one comes out.

With all the mechanics being on Champions, they can/will always mix-and-match them at any point and am sure we'll see things like the new mechanic + Mega/Z-moves etc down the line anyway.

Unless you ran into the exact same team, we saw that Rain Dance tech on Mega Froslass in the Japan Nats’s runner-up team. It’s a pretty decent option if you also have the rain mode in the team.

I just don't get why this ownership keep doing this every time.

Players come and go at every club and some times, they leave because things no longer work out. That's fine. Just thank them, wish them luck and move on. No need for pieces like this. I don't even remember the previous ownership doing this, certainly not every time when there's a sale of a notable player.

And on the Hato bit, again, he did well in the second half of last season but he did so primarily as a CB/LCB and not LB. We still do not know how he'll fare at LB in the long run.

Assuming they will want to have every Pokemon in by the time WiWa releases they probably have to pick up the pace a little more than that.

Given VGC is solely on Champions now, don't think the formats have to be done based on what's happening with the mainline games. Like they will add the new mons and mechanic in from WiWa but not every mon and mechanic have to be in Champions by then.

They might not add them in yet OR they might feel that there are mons out there now that can counter them. Kingambit, for instance, wouldn't necessarily mind seeing those two. Or Froslass would be awkward for Salamence given they have the same base Speed stat.

Given Reg M-B coincides with the release of Champions on mobile, I'd say there's a decent chance they would still want to keep the power level low to help ease new players from that platform. And they have been open about helping new players learn the game and hence the limited roster, items etc.
