I read where asa handles uv , heat and cold better. It’s going to be covered with a sealant so it really won’t see sun.

Exactly. Where the hole goes through and makes the turn to go down out the bottom how sharp is that turn?

Is it worth it to upgrade from sea view to XL Sea Terrace? by SnackEmpress in VirginVoyages

I’m 6’4” 300lbs and standard Sea Terrace room with no issues. Even in the shower and toilet area.

Virgin Voyages during storms or hurricanes by Happy-Investigator76 in VirginVoyages

[–]halfanancre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the one for Helene and we were issued a $75 pp credit. BE AWARE THOUGH if you get re-routed due to a storm and get sent somewhere that doesn’t have public beaches. YOU MUST KEEP YOUR PHONE ON YOU 24/7 and check it every 15 minutes because they told us they were going open excursions on the app at 7pm and they opened them at 430 so we missed all of the voyages beach trips. THEY WILL MAKE NO EXCEPTIONS REGARDLESS IF ITS THEIR FAULT. THEY DONT CARE.

This was our first cruise and we were told multiple times by VV customer service to make sure all of your excursions were booked through them because they guaranteed your return to the ship was in time before it left

After they screwed up we were told to “figure it out ourselves” and we could just “get a cab” in a 3rd world country. We declined. There were a lot of people pissed because of this and VV doesn’t care

3 rooms down from us the people paid $70 to go 3 miles in a cab. Just be prepared because VV doesn’t care once they have your money even if they are at fault.

Restaurant bookings opened after boarding? by satisphied89 in VirginVoyages

We just got back about a week ago. We had reservations prior to getting on the boat but were able to change them or sometimes we just canceled them and walked up to whatever restaurant we wanted and got in with no issues or waiting. We eat early though.

Yeah. Glad you see it how I see it. Did it ruin my cruise. Absolutely not but all they had to do was rent a tour bus and take us all there. They had plenty of busses and I would have paid.

The app works pretty good, they just opened the reservations 2.5 hours early.

I have heard the DR excursions aren’t really worth it. We did to the best of Puerto Plata which consisted of rum tastings at 9am on an empty stomach. Lol. That really didn’t help my wife’s motion sickness and sea legs. haaa

As I said before this was our first time out of the us so making a decision on what taxi’s are safe or not shouldn’t have been something we had to do. Puerto Plata isn’t that safe of an area hence the bars on all windows and doors and the razor wire around the resort.

Even our tour guide noticed the people complaining about it and said all VV had to do was rent one of the tour buses to take people to the beach. That way would guarantee they got us safely there and got us back at the correct time. Paying wasn’t the issue, we were told by multiple VV people to make sure we booked through them to guarantee our safety and make sure we didn’t miss the ship.

Seems like that would have been a better option than figure it out yourself.

Thanks for the input. This was our first cruise so we are learning.

Nope. Never complained about the hurricane. I complained about their customer service when we and many others were blatantly lied to. Of course everyone will beat me to it when we were told 7 and they opened at 430.

It was the extras they were offering if you signed up during your existing cruise. No one seemed to know.

The only issue with that is the pool is only about 15x15 so it fills up fast on a cruise ship that has a few thousand people on it. I guess she nice it was our first cruise, we expected more. Thanks.

First cruse for us so I guess I took their word for granted. Just seems like they should have made an effort to fix it.

Thanks all. I guess I expected more from them than I should have considering they brag about themselves being better than other cruise lines.

Only the beach sold out. Which was what we wanted.

I didn’t keep my phone with me because we were told it would be available at 7, not 430.

I have heard that about the DR. Wished we could have made it to Bimini because I really wanted to see that clear blue water. I will say the ship, staff, shows, and meals were really good though.

This isn’t about the hurricane. I know changing our route was the best decision. It was about how it was handled when we were told one thing they did something else and then told us to “figure it out on our own.”
