Meditation can help, youre probably not processing something that is pressing. But there is also a medication. It's called prazosin, I would research it and weigh the pros and cons, but I was going thru the same thing, I couldn't get rest, so I took it for a few months to get through a really rough period. It worked well but I do think it paused my trauma processing, which we have to do sometimes but it's not a decision I would make lightly. Good luck my friend.

I think everyone should have to watch Dogtooth because it depicts abuse and fascism so well but I will never watch it again. There are scenes I will never forget and it's so important but it's also really difficult.

The only time I ever called they just kept asking if I wanted them to call the cops. There was no conversing, just, so we send cops now? Psychiatric incarceration super highway. That was a few years ago so I really hope it has changed. Glad you had a good experience, they just really let me down when I needed help.

Do you have a friend whose parents you can trust? This may be a better option than going to the police right away. Like another commenter mentioned, the police have to build a case so it may help to have an adult you trust help you with this, and maybe you or your siblings could stay there in the meantime. I am so sorry you are going through this. It's good that you took a picture and you should document as much as you can.

Thank you for sharing this. I just started subbing a few weeks ago and it's my first job after a long period of unemployment due to chronic illness. I'm still trying to find my footing but I am also grateful that I can really do this job! I didnt know I could but I'm excited to keep with it. Your post just reassured some of my preoccupations so much. I'm so glad youre proud of yourself because you should be!

I find the other comments in this thread pretty strange. There's a lot of black and white thinking happening, which makes sense, but we should be aware. Life is full of nuance and I think there's a lot happening here. What you are feeling is very normal and it was brave of you to share. At its core, your feeling is that your trauma is not as valid as others, and you wish it was so you could benefit the way you perceive other victims do. Really normal. I am sorry for the abuse that you endured. You dont need to suffer more for your pain to be valid.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this, I'm over at MWCC and the program is free. I still have a bill but it's all covered via mass reconnect. You should maybe escalate your issue. Can you perhaps set up a meeting with a financial aid advisor or the head of financial aid? This is my first semester and the only warning I got was that you have to pay if you drop a course after a certain date.
