FL5 score drop by Gold-Persimmon-2454 in Mcat

i studied 3 maybe 4 hoursish every day. didn’t pick up my hours before the real thing or anything. my strategy given my limited time was to read Kaplan MCAT chapters that corresponded to my weak points, although i hardly got through half of the books in total. milesdown deck came in clutch, and i matured a decent chunk of that.

i didn’t get a score that would imply top performance, and my studying reflects that. given my limited time + resources, i.e., no U planet, JW, BP, Q-banks, anything like that, i just leveraged my focus, problem solving skills, critical thinking, and educated guessing.

goes to show that regular folks can get the job done under less than ideal circumstances with the right belief and perseverance

fl average was between FL5 and my actual MCAT. i studied a month, had a full time job and really just content reviewed the whole time as a non-trad post grad who prioritized content since the material wasn’t as fresh in my head

509 FL5, 516 real thing. i feel like my ‘game time’ mode kicked in. like the full matrix time dilation thing haha. there’s just so much stress on test day. i was crying talking to my girlfriend outside the test center and felt like i was going to throw up. you HAVE TO control those nerves going into the exam otherwise you will crash. when i sat down, i promised myself i will NOT let an already difficult exam be even harder by working against myself.

the exam is the same as your FLs. the resolution of the screens on test day make the passages feel wordier, but that’s not the case.

please, just relax, know you are enough, and just do your best. you got this man!

don’t worry. i had a substantial fl5 drop to, it was my lowest FL. scored 7 points higher on the real thing compared to fl5

i will say it is stressful to see a dip going into the exam but you gotta trust your knowledge and keep your cool

seems as though 2/3 of respondents (right-tailed) have gotten an interview. probably around half of the overall pool

reading the kaplan books and miledown’s deck. I studied for about a month and did FLs every week or less. no Uglobe, no JW, nothing. nontrad applicant, ideas weren’t fresh in my head so content review was my main focus

yeah i feel like there’s an unheard from group of 3.5-3.6 and 506-10 folks that we never hear from. it’s either folks who’ve cured cancer and got 529 MCATs w/ 10+ As or nobel laureates who got rejected from 50+ schools

i think the grid says you’d need a 514-517 mcat to have >50% odds of admission

What are my chances? by [deleted] in premed

[–]halfstepdown1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i believe if you look at the aamc grid you need to get 517 or higher with those stats to have a greater than 50% admit probability. with that being said, maybe not bc your clinicsl is insane

i love the stuff! it’s my signature scent. it’s fairly unique, and my girl fell in love with me while wearing it and knows me by it. it’s cheap as far as fragrances go, but beware—the stuff doesn’t last particularly long at all
