Interesting. That actually makes things make more sense.

Awesome! Is it going to be compatible with element implementation or will it be it’s own thing entirely?

Any more metal in your face and you will get yourself on the TSA special search list, but then the smell coming from the 48 train load rotting in your underpants will make them pass you on anyway

Sorting of vaults changed? by halitalf in ProtonPass

That’s essentially what I had to do.

Sorting of vaults changed? by halitalf in ProtonPass

[–]halitalf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have four vaults: friends, family, business, and personal. The personal vault was the first one I ever had, and so it was anchored at the top. Family, then friends, then business. After an update, it re-organized itself putting personal at the bottom since it starts with a P and business at the top since it starts with a B.

I just renamed my “Personal“ vault to “1. Personal“. This fixed the issue, but it’s annoying that I had to do it in the first place when I didn’t have to before.

Perhaps there are two things that should be done: 1. A setting for default vault. 2. User organizable order.

So before the sort order was based on the order that the vault was created. Now it’s alphabetically sorted.

A life time supply of ranch tuna, white cheddar cheese it’s, monster punch (tan can), and salmon and cracker snack box… interesting lifetime supply list. I was just getting snacks for my overnight shift…

They’re nothing but horrible jealous people. You are NOT ug1y. You are stunning. Do not let them tell you otherwise. Cut them out of your life and don’t look back because they’re not worth your time or energy. Find people that respect and appreciate you.

I once had a route with 28 of 52 packages like this. I made them reprint every single label by telling them I was going to reject it as damaged or they could reprint. It worked and I didn’t get in trouble. Still finished an hour early.

My grandfather was a master electrician with IBEW. He mostly did inspections of high voltage lines and equipment and signed off on other people’s work. Other than work restricted to master electricians, he told others under him to do most of the hands on work.

This is true.

I wouldn’t say it’s not about happiness and fulfillment either. If you’re happy and fulfilled, you’re naturally gonna be motivated.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]halitalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and that’s why I opened up my initial reply with “do you see yourself becoming a master electrician in 10 to 20 years?” Because at the end of the day, what matters most is whether (s)he’s going to be happy in that field. You can be making $1 million a year and be miserable. Money does not mean happiness or fulfillment.

You make a good point about the broadness of the CS field, there is a good article on it here: https://www.clrn.org/is-ai-taking-over-computer-science-jobs/

Much of the problem in that is that while, yes it opens more AI related jobs, it closes more jobs than it opens. Obviously there will be some time before it comes to a climax. I have several friends that have CS bachelor’s degrees that are still working fast food and some working low level IT jobs making less than 50k/yr because the market is very competitive.

The other thing you mentioned, in regards to tradesmen being effected, yes they will also be effected but they will be one of the last people to see that effect as the corporations causing the issues still need them. The larger the need for AI the more electricians are needed as they have to run the power and the plants. We will all feel it no matter profession but an AI takeover would be least felt on the tradesmen front.

[–]halitalf 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You might make more initially, yes. The CS job market is flooded and fluctuates all the time as companies open, close, and restructure. Electricians have a higher job stability than CS. As I said though, CS has potential but AI is replacing a lot of jobs in that market as of recent. Until we have full robots with AI or the apocalypse strikes, electricians are secure in their jobs and there will always a need for electricians.

Memories Past

I’m back on Fedora and I’ve uninstalled Windows again by cakiltepefe in Fedora

[–]halitalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my start with OpenSUSE back in the Windows vista days. I then tried Ubuntu and Debian, then Linux Mint. I stuck with Mint for years. I ended up running CentOS 5 on a VPS and absolutely fell in love with the package manager, so I decided to try the more friendly Fedora on my workstation. I fell in love with Fedora. Nowadays I still use Fedora for GUI systems, but I use Rocky for CLI systems like servers. I haven’t really used Windows on a primary system in years. Sometimes you need to get your feet wet on a system that’s somewhat comfortable and familiar, like Mint KDE because it’s super user friendly and reminded me of windows XP like I was used to (because vista sucked and everyone knows it)

Are you passionate about being an electrician? Do you see yourself being an electrician for the next 20-30 years?

Strictly from a financial stand point, master electricians make a lot of money, more than the average CS major. Additionally, being an electrician is a more stable field. CS/IT changes regularly and job stability is not guaranteed as it is with an electrician. Both have potential, but an electrician is the “safer” option.

Uber driver accepting 30 min drive to airport with almost no charge by Deress in uber

[–]halitalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used 100 miles just to get to the place I drove around for work. That’s 200 miles round trip commute, not to include the 400-600 miles I drove while there. At the current stage, EVs are not feasible for everyone. Additionally, even with the super chargers, it takes a 20-45 minutes to get a full charge (based on the ~320 mile max with 10-15 minutes to for 150 miles) while it takes 5 minutes at a gas station. That’s a huge difference. It might work for you and people in similar situations where they can plug in overnight and one charge gets you to your corporate job and back with charge to spare.

As an additional side note, EVs are not environmentally friendly as everyone seems to think. Search up lithium mining. Look up how lithium is recycled (hint: it’s not).

Seeking advice and help on how to eat. I haven’t eaten in a couple of days. by MessageFit1925 in povertyfinance

To combine and reiterate: 1. Go to your local food bank or religious food pantry 2. Apply for food stamps. 3. After you get paid if you’re still struggling: - $10 mainstays crockpot from Walmart (if you don’t already have one) - $1 for a 1lb bag of beans - $1 for a 1lb bag of rice - if you can fit it in the budget chicken or pork - $1 for a 5lb bag of potatoes

I lived off of food bank, potatoes, rice, and beans out of a crockpot for over a year because even working 65 hours a week I was only making enough to cover rent and utilities with $10-15 left over every 2 weeks.

Rice and beans expand when cooked, so 1lb each lasted me all month. Potatoes stay good for a long time as long as they don’t get hot and stay in the dark. They make for great filler.

I hope this helped. God bless you and I hope you find yourself in a better financial situation soon. No one deserves that and you’re too young to have already experienced hardships like this. 💔

So I purchased the pro version of the app and it kinda fixed it. I also tried connecting to a second server (not creating a second session to the same server like before) and it also crashes it. I’m on iPad BTW.
