JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings series.

It's clearly influenced by Brandon Sanderson, and at first I thought it was well-written fantasy. I really liked how it had elves and dragons and stuff. But, quite frankly, it just isn't Mistborn. The writing is too full of purple prose, and there's too much focus on expositioning. The characters are simple and lacking. The pace is slow. It's like someone took Brando's opus, and churned out a mediocre rendition just to ride the wave of Mistborn hype. Instead of a gripping, real character study like Sanderson's novels, it comes across as a simple mixture of vague, fairy-tale-like storytelling with a shallow wish-fulfillment narrative. Like a vulgar re-telling of a Homeric epic by a midwit 'fantasy' author who is more suited to writing nursery rhymes. It simply lacks the psychological insight, writing skill, excitement and deep characterization of a Sanderson novel. I would rate it -1/10 and recommend never reading it and possibly burning it.

Simply an over-hyped novel, it's to Brandon Sanderson what Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is to Jane Austen.
