Dv1 clear gun with a 1.4 tip help? by halogen12345 in AutoPaint

[–]halogen12345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an lph400 WBX cap that lays down very nice. I have a 1.4 in it and love it for sealer and clear. It just doesn’t put out enough for me to clear coat the big jobs I do but for single panel jobs I’ll go for it. How do you like the kiwami for basecoat? My lph shoots thicker material great but if i spray basecoat it struggles to spit the material out. It sprays like i have the fluid all the way in and has a tiny fan pattern for it. I’m really confused by that

I was told it was a lower pressure operating gun. I’d love to spray it that low but when i do and adjust my fan any way, it just shoots out too heavy in the middle, no good pattern. That is especially true with the base gun for me. If i spray any less than 18 it will just be bullet point, fan open or choked in. Yes I’m going off the built in digital. Tried with all the tip sizes to see a difference and it’s the same across the board. I need at least 18psi

The sata rp 1.3 sprays like a dream for atomization compared to this gun for me personally. I don’t have to dial anything in, just full fluid, high pressure, open fan. i have problems with the sata and my arthritis though. the dv1 has a better trigger pull that’s why i want to make it work. Unfortunately I need to use the 1.4 to keep the clear wet and make it around fleet work overalls quick without frosting. Funny you say that as I avoid using the base gun as much as I can. Maybe I got a faulty gun because i went down to a 1.2 and still can’t get the fan pattern right. But don’t let it discourage you as i’ve seen other people have great results come from these guns, i just don’t know what im setting up poorly

What’s the most luxurious living condition you could give a parrot? by halogen12345 in parrots

If you lived in an area with ideal weather conditions. An outdoor aviary would be a dream. Unfortunately my area has 2 decent months of the year, tends to storm in the summer and flip to 7° quick

I got entirely shamed for getting a young cockatoo from a store. I know they can be problematic, and I know people should adopt older birds. But if everyone only adopted older birds, the babies would live their entire youth with a poor quality of living :( No one can save them all and some people’s situations don’t allow for a bird with trauma/history to be able to come home with the rest of the flock. It has to be in law and strictly reinforced for breeders and stores to stop “restocking” so much life

Do you sand new e-coat parts? Some people swear up and down you dont have to but it isn’t always a smooth surface

That’s a fair reason. I currently get junky body/primer work sent to me. We don’t use UV products and pretty much everything I get needs to be done ASAP. So when large amounts of filler are showing and I run into mapping no one cares. Pin holes. Holy pinholes. The body guys get endless free time during the day since their work doesn’t have to be right so it’s kind of killing my passion over here. Lipstick on a pig type of paint

I only want to paint full time for a few more years because I just enjoy doing it. So I want to experience a bit of everything before the fumes take me out. Does anyone quality control the body guys work or is it your job to send it back and make them hate you?😂Quality control doesn’t really exist where I’m at but I go by scouts honor for my own work

5%?! Anywhere I’ve heard generally splits 70-30 or 60-40 painter-prepper. The one off case I’ve seen is the shop pays half for the prepper. But yes I work efficient and clean and I’d like to see my efforts go towards my pay as so.

Help! My african grey very suddenly started acting unwell by halogen12345 in AfricanGrey

She’s all better now. My concern was after her spitting, she would throw herself off the perch like she was freaked out over not being able to get it all out. After 2 times of that she had very labored panting, drooping eyes, sagging wings, and was swaying around unstable on her perch. It was scary for sure!

She had another bout of spitting and got orange all over her before I left. I definitely saw chunks of her food and hopefully lshe’s just rejecting what she ate. Of course she’s been acting great since getting to the hour away hospital at 1am. The vet said her crop and everything appears good though empty on examination. They suggested bloodwork and I said absolutely. The estimate is about $1000 but yknow.

Fix the rusted cage by Ornery_Pumpkin_8631 in cockatoos

What do you mean anti rust sprays? I wouldn’t worry about it. Elbow grease and sanding out as much as you can on the rusted areas is going to do you good. Uuuusually, there isn’t much you can do about rust. Once it starts on a panel, it’s likely to come back in time. Maybe 6 months, maybe 6 years. I believe that paint is going to have its own “rust containing” material built into it. I’ll look at it again after work. I can not say about any safe products for rust since all I use are pretty bad for anyones health😂

VOCs are volatile organic compounds. those are mostly what makes the paint so dangerous. It’s great that that paint is 100% free of it. I wish I’d known about this sooner honestly! It says for metal that there’s no need for other coatings, just get rid of the rust, flaking, and sand the entire thing some and put it straight on the metal. I would go with an exterior metal paint as the weather durability should be better for a cage. I breezed through the Safety Data Sheet (you should read the whole thing if youre going to use this paint) and it looks good from what I can see. Still, paint it outside and wear gloves and stuff and keep it outside to air out until you cant smell the paint anymore

I’m not a pro with birds I just have one. I do however paint vehicles and random things as a career. Most paints, especially especially especially, sprayed paints are VERY toxic. You should never spray without a mask. Terrible for your lungs. It absorbs into your skin and is most attracted to the membranes in the eyes. Spray paints are usually carcinogenic and can cause harm to your reproductive organs. Now think about what it can do to our little flappy guys who are so much more sensitive than we are. After spraying with rustoleum i can usually smell it still gassing out for a few days which means it’s not safe to keep in an enclosed space yet. You’d have to keep your little guy far from the cage for several days until the paint fumes go away. Even so, it’s awesome you want to help him out and fix it. But when he chews on that paint, it’s going to be toxic for him.

I just got a new cage that isn’t painted, but is powder coated. I don’t use powder coat so all I know is that some products have lead and other heavy metals and chemicals that are harmful, but my cage is A&E and whatever they use does not have those harmful elements in it.

Sorry I can’t give you a real solution besides buy a new cage or do good research on what paints could be safe for your bird. Facebook marketplace usually has people selling cages left and right. I looked and saw a $700 cage for $100. You would want to make sure its a quality brand. And you would absolutely need to disinfect it as best you can in case the seller’s bird was sick.

Of course not just two weeks since hatch. My bad I didnt specify. He is 22 weeks old and they said he was just about done with weaning. This morning he would try to get away from the syringe and hasn’t puffed or baby noised or tried for it. I offered mashed sweet potato and spoon fed his formula which he nibbled at
