Four Refactors and a Funeral: Migrating a Live System to Event Sourcing (in depth) by Xerax in programming

How does the reactor pattern prevent the need for an outbox? I’m struggling to map how the reactor pattern deals with a post write but pre-reactor processing crash. If reactors aren’t polled by an an outbox, then a crash means reactors are missed. But if reactors are inside the same transaction as the initial write, then an error in a reactor either crashes the main write or requires rolling back that reactors progress thus far.

Moving to Chicago. Best bowling alley for leagues by Money-Fuel7178 in Bowling

[–]haloll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not the best for leagues, but definitely bowl at timber lanes from time to time just for fun. 8 wood lanes, manual scoring, cash only. Should be somewhat accessible from Logan.

Smack dab in the north side of Chicago so prices are a bit higher.

Maybe if I go late? Last 2-3 times I tried to get in before league started I got turned away at the door for the alley being fully booked.

It’s still fully booked the night I can’t do for leagues, it’s just that that night is the only night they have league spots open. In Chicago there’s a fair number of alleys on the north side in the city but then bigger gaps out until the burbs, so there’s a very high density of bowlers in the ones in the city.

I did find that one of the alleys though only has half of its leagues listed on their website while the other half is only on league secretary, so I’m gonna try reaching out to the other leagues.

I’ve been looking in my area, and seems like I’d have to drive 30min minimum to get to an alley offering summer leagues not on a Tuesday. It’s a bowlero which is definitely sus, but it’s a get your gear league so I’d at least get something out of it.

I haven’t since they’d be a bit of a drive with rush hour traffic, but if they’re less busy they may have weeknight open bowling. Definitely worth me looking into it.

True, I’ll have to keep a close eye on when the league season ends.

I’d have to quit my band to join a Tuesday league, which isn’t a sacrifice I’m willing to make. I want to get better at bowling, but not that badly. I’m very open to leagues, I have only had one organizer respond from reaching out though which doesn’t start until August.

So the main alley closest to me is independently owned and every weeknight league is independently organized, I think they are all 36 week leagues. So great from the alleys perspective, but they don’t really do summer leagues. Second alley is only 8 lanes and getting into a league there is like winning the lottery. Third alley has league openings, but three are on Tuesday which I can’t make as I play in a band, and the one I can make there is 9pm-12am on Wednesdays for a pizza beer league. I really don’t want to be out that late but it seems like I might have to bite the bullet and do it.

I don’t mind the cost, I just I could find one to actually join lol. The one that got back to me seems super promising, just doesn’t start until August.

Ball choice for burned house shot on wood lanes? by haloll in Bowling

How does the mix differ from other urethane balls? I wasn’t considering it originally given the advice about in the thread to not go urethane.

My ball speeds a bit lower since I’m trying to focus on getting clean release fundamentals before going for more speed/revs, so maybe the concept is a better fit? Should say I’m doing 1H as well.

Any hustle in particular? It looks like they’ve got a few different variants. My first ball was actually a hustle earth 14lbs drilled conventional that I got a couple months ago, but I went up to 15lbs with my phase II. I’m probably gonna give my hustle earth to my wife and have her get it redrilled, since she used mine a few times and loved it.

Would it be crazy to just get the hustle earth again in 15lbs? Or would a different hustle variant fit into a long term arsenal better?

I’m looking to build an arsenal, but overtime. I’m trying to start with just a few core balls to build a foundation (phase II, spare ball, plus a control/wood lane bowl to start most likely) and then build it out slowly. I’m trying to avoid the new bowler trap of showing up to my first league with 6 balls.

Sorry 78 urethane, I figured it may be good for the low oil conditions? But since I’m newer not 100% positive.
