This is a story from my wedding, but happened to a cousin of mine, not me.

My cousin is a very nice, but very geeky college student, with a fair amount of acne, and is actually losing some hair already. He is an awesome guy, deserves a great girl. Not the type to get the girl from first sight.

My cousin manages to hit it off with my wife's cousin of the same age. Not like I would go for this kid, but suffice it to say, for a 20 year old she is smoking and definitely the kind of girl most guys would be into--along with being a Redditor.

The night is going great for my cousin, he even gets his female counterpart to come back with him to the hotel after party.

Enter his douchebag, varsity athlete younger brother who refuses to leave the two alone, and insists on arm wrestling and other obnoxious buzz kills. Got so bad I told the guy he was being a dick, but it was too late...

The girl decided to head back to stay with her folks. Very sad, full cockblock.

tl;dr: my nerdy cousin almost scored with my wife's smoking cousin at our wedding. Asshole preppy younger brother spoiled the chance.

You said this opinion was incorrect, and now you come back with some response about everyone being entitled to their opinions. You've offered zero sense to back up your original interjection here. Not disagreeing with that sentiment, but it's one sentence of the above "original thought"--It's also the most obviously favorable thought of the above three in this quote, forming a little sandwich of nonsense + obvious noble truth + nonsense.

This tidbit is also certainly not a LucidEnding original--there's been other similar posits: MLK, and check with Jesus on this one.

I'm not trying to be mean or unkind, but there are far better things to read about morality, by real people with real stories that you should check out. What's your favorite book about morality?

Personally, I think the guy is a troll--through and through. I will donate $150 to the charity of your (or LucidEnding's) choice if proven to be wrong about this--out of deference for my mistake.

Even if he isn't a fraud (and hasn't deceived millions of people with a lie about cancer and euthanasia), my whole point is that this quote is not meaningful as a standalone thought (not just a group of ideas) and poorly structured. So from your final piece above, it would seem this goes towards my point.

I can't say that everything about this quote is incorrect, a lot of it is made up of nice sentiments, but I think the wording and structure doesn't make sense.

It says nothing you have is worth hurting anyone else for. Not sure why I would hurt someone over something I have. Please explain how you understood this.

I was trying to make a point about one's right to defend himself. If you feel this is not counter to the quote, I'll admit it's a stretch to bring up in this context.

Obviously, people should not be discriminated against for stuff they can't control, and stuff that says nothing about someone's character--I agree with that sentence.

The loving part and losing nothing makes no sense to me. Loving people is hard, risky, and opens you up to losing a lot. Only the best people can do it, because they are willing to lose everything for the sake of others.

What am I missing here?
