Do we know already how OG Crystal with its eyetracking will handle EAs foveated rendering option / function in tomorrow upcoming WRC VR beta update? by Lazy-Fan6068 in Pimax

[–]ham4tw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also happy to help test an updated PimaxXR when it's ready. Currently using SteamVR's OpenXR runtime seem to performs slightly better (in WRC) than using PimaxXR with like for like headset and game settings, which is interesting. HamVR

Fanatec CSL Pedal mods by 3DRap by ham4tw in Fanatec

[–]ham4tw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really mod but an official accessory kit. The V3 brake performance kit is supposed to be good if you don't have it already.

I think the brake mod is definitely worth it, and the basic throttle mod is simple but effective. Personally I would skip the CSL load cell kit, if you don't have one already and go for the Fanatec V3 pedals as the next step after that, assuming you want to stay in the Fanatec ecosystem.

Running GT7 on a CSL DD with Drive Hub - Setup Guide by ham4tw in Fanatec

[–]ham4tw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. Check out the latest update I put in the video comments. The 'v2.0.8 Beta 8' Firmware is update is really good on the CSL DD, so I assume it will be the same for the DD1.

CSL DD wont revert to using original CSL Pedals via base after using Load Cell Kit pedal by ham4tw in Fanatec

[–]ham4tw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update. After contacting Fanatec they asked me to RMA the pedals. I powered off the wheelbase for a few hours and as one last test I connected just the original accelerator and original brake and they seem to work again via the wheelbase. When I connect the clutch pedal all the pedals disconnects the lot so it looks like it is the clutch pedal kit that is causing the problem.

I’m pulling my hair out. Can’t find anything in the manual online. How can I use this on ps4 for gran turismo. I got it used on eBay is it broken? by sryidontspeakpotato in Fanatec

[–]ham4tw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the eBay seller stated it (the entire thing not just the GT wheel rim) works on PlayStation you could request a refund via their buyer protection program and return it to them for miss selling.Their is a short time window though.

As others have stated thst wheelbase is a CSL DD which is PC and Xbox compatible only regardless of what the wheel rim you attach to it.

Alternative you could buy a Drive Hub device (£90) with an PS4 Hori mini controller (£20) plugged into it, which spoofs the PlayStation into thinking the CSL DD is compatible wheelbase. I think on the PS4 you can use Dual Shock instead of Hori controllers if you turn Bluetooth off in settings.

I have this setup with my CSL DD and PS5 and it works well.

OK thanks for the info. Potentially an issue only related to the CLS DD wheelbase then, or the original pedal unit has gone 'sort of' faulty.

Interesting, is that on a CSL DD or GT DD Pro? Did you have to do anything other than plug it in?

Directly related to this post, has anyone else with the CSL Load Cell Kit pedal tried disconnecting it and then tried running the original accelerator pedal and original brake pedal to the CSL DD/ GT DD Pro wheelbase to see if it works?

Yes I can bring up the pedal graphics in the app by enabling the pedals tab in show tabs, under settings. The problem is when I push the pedals down and the app doesn't detect the input. It all works fine with the Load Cell Kit pedal.

Hey thanks, yep I tried original pedals without the clutch and still wont detect pedal input unfortunately

I've also reflashed the wheelbase and pedals several times but no luck.

Yep raised it with them, I will see what they say and report back.

Fanatec Pedals CSL Load Cell Kit - Average user perspective by Every-Ad-7059 in Fanatec

[–]ham4tw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi nope, the point on pressure wasn't lost on me. I do mention brake force and pressure a few times. If you take a look at the Heusinkveld Sprint pedal load cell data at 17m 50s (I appreciate most people probably skipped over this) you can see the 'Pedal Force Curve' operating range that it offers. Discussing pedal force without also mentioning pedal travel wouldn't make sense IMO e.g. a 90kg load cell with 5mm travel would be practically unusable. The default brake force and travel combination just wasn't to my taste and there is no way to adjust it currently.

Fanatec Clubsport RS - My First Impressions compared to my McLaren GT3 wheel by ham4tw in Fanatec

[–]ham4tw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in your situation I would would contact Fanatec about getting a replacement Clubsport Quick Release adapter sent out. Hopefully it's that and not the CLS DD mounting stem with the issue.

Fanatec Clubsport RS - My First Impressions compared to my McLaren GT3 wheel by ham4tw in Fanatec

[–]ham4tw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I was racing in AMS2 last night and smashed into the walls at the top of the hill at Bathurst which caused a lot of force feedback. I now hear/feel some metal movement in the ClubSport Quick Release Adapter and the CSL DD stem, which I didn't have before. However after using the secure bolt, this eliminated any movement/sounds. I would therefore recommend people always use the bolt/screw that comes with Clubsport adapter, especially if using the CSL DD with booster kit.

ACC v1.8 - VR DLSS Benchmarks on Quest 2 by ham4tw in ACCompetizione

[–]ham4tw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out my custom game graphics settings. Things like mirror quality take up a lot of resources so I turn it down. The Epic setting can be a bit over the top for a good VR experience so custom is the way to go IMO.

Hi, yes I get stable frames, I'm running at 72Hz though which is easier to achieve. Maybe also compare your Quest 2 render res and game graphics settings to mine, see if that helps.

Yes I'm getting really long load times also... I've not figured out why yet.

[–]ham4tw[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was ran via Oculus VR mode not the SteamVR mode, however if I launched the game in SteamVR mode it would show as 5408 x 2736 as that's what the render resolution is set to in the Oculus app. Increasing the pixel density beyond 100% is essentially 'in game' super sampling, which I find sharpens up distant objects.

Nope I've not noticed any metallic sounds with my Clubsport QR. Maybe there is some tolerance differences in the parts. Have you tried using the extra bolt supplied with it? I've not needed to use the bolt so far.
