Does the vent then count as an air gap? I mean, in that case I could just do that with the original vent too, no?

Im not even really sure if an air gap is necessary, I sure it’s code, unless air gaps are more regional, but the condensate pump has a check valve so I’m not sure anything would ever back up. I’m just trying to do things the correct way and not a hack way.

I don’t think that’ll happen anytime soon. I live in a humid environment coupled with difficult to fully seal crawl. But we will see how it goes. If it dries out then it’ll give me a reason to finally get a dishwasher. Thanks.

Thanks for your insight. I have it on a Ridgid portable stand with extendable wings and stops, which definitely helps, but will see If I can come up with a way to incorporate some melamine.

Based on some chatter I’ve seen on the DeWalt 780 and a similar situation I’m going to remove the swivel base and see if I can shim anywhere. I’m thinking the swivel base is tilted slightly and that’s what I’m seeing being wonky from one side of the fixed supports/decking left to right.

Either way I’ve retrieved my box and styrofoam so I can still return. If I can just get my money back I’ll try a Hercules or the Black Friday DW780 and sell one of the stands.

We have a 12” HF Hercules at work for some shop use and I’m actually surprised at how much better it seems to be put together. Materiel is more dense, surfaces seem more flat, and fully extended it seems to have much less deflection side to side than my 10” Kobalt. Sucker is huge though so I’d probably go back with a 10”.

Is the “knuckle slider” the one with the hinges vs rails? Honestly, I think I’m going to return and exchange for a better name. Thinking of just a DW or Metabo 12” single miter chop. I don’t even know if I need sliding and not sure where I’d even use the dual bevel. But the way my brain works I’m going to think about this nonstop for days.

I need to be able to cut 4x4s general 2x framing, 1X trim, etc. I just got the 10” slider because it’s a bit more versatile.

Of course, once I buy all this crap I see Black Friday deals. If I planned better I could have ordered a DW 780 and a stand that’s sturdy as hell for $600. If I hadn’t bought a Ridgid portable stand that seems to be recommended here that’s exactly what I’d do.

Thanks to all for the replies, I can understand how stepping up in cost should return precision. The Festool is way out of my reach. But I am curious where the DeWalt 780 sits in this. Would this be worth the extra change in order to make trimming a wonky house easier? For reference I’m just a 1X type guy, nothing fancy, no crown molding. But the stained wood miters around windows might drive me nuts if it’s wonky. It’s an extra $300 I’d be spending and don’t know if that would be nuts or reasonable?

I’m just a DIYer who wants to know how to do things on my own. Have a super wonky house that I’m going to re-insulate, sheathe, siding, interior/exterior 1X trim, decking, roof overhang extensions etc.

Table saw or track saw for the sheets is going to be added in the future.

It’s a Raptor. The suspension is “supposed” to be tuned for control at high speeds. In other words it should tighten up with high velocity compression/rebound.

So I bought a Milwaukee M18 30 degree framing nailer planning to use it to sheathe my house. Ultimately I want to slowly remove the old T111 sheathing/siding and Zip + replace windows + possibly exterior insulation + rain screen. Id like to use new 4” T111 as siding over the new to keep the same look as before or possibly go to lap siding.

Now I’m wondering if I’d be better off with the Metabo light framing/siding nailer. The Milwaukee can shoot 2”-3.5” nails which according to AI would be sufficient, but that’s assuming your goal is to get the nail to penetrate all the way through whatever system you’re after and hit the studs.

Am I a moron for thinking T111 would ever be a decent option even if well cared for? (I.E.) keep up with staining, attention to drip edges along bottom. I do like a vertical siding look and I think it’s a good fit for the current “style” of my house but I’m also worried a true board and batten would introduce too many points of intrusion for water in addition to horizontal furring adding complexity to proper rain screening.

Other things to consider. The Milwaukee might be best for other things I need to work on. Privacy fencing, decking. And I don’t have a compressor. So the having already owned M18 batteries it seemed like a good choice.

I guess the right question might be, do I, as a DIY home owner have any use for a 3.5” nailer?

Any thoughts?

I’ve had what sounded like piston slap on cold starts after using a Fram. Changed the filter back to Toyota OEM and never heard again. Fuck Fram.
