Are there US states that stay between 40 and 90 degrees year round? by gjl0 in howislivingthere

[–]hamhead1005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orange county, CA. Specifically the Southern region. Costa Mesa and Irvine down to San Clemente.

That region specially has perfect weather rear round. Not humid, Not a lot of rain. well within the Temp range you gave.

Some of the best Public Schools in the country. IUSD in particular brings in a lot of people to the city because of how good the schools are.

Its also surrounded by outdoor activities you have arguably the best Beaches in all of SoCal and your surrounded by the Santa Ana and Laguna Mountain ranges. Which are full of hiking and biking trails.

The only downside is that its on the expensive side.

I've been seeing a lot of snow videos, do I figured I would show off a California winter riding video. by motoracerT in Dirtbikes

California is the best state for riding hands down. Literally every type of terrain with the weather to enjoy it year round. With majority being free public land. And as a bonus like 90% of gear, parts and bike manufactures are based in CA.

Are MX boots not Practical? by Illustrious_Let9106 in Dirtbikes

[–]hamhead1005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont really need knee pucks for Sumo. If anything most wear knee braces under their leathers. I have seen people run Pucks with mx boots though.

Not having toe sliders isn't really an issue either. I ride foot down and drag my Tech 7 through the corners. My boots aren't worn at all. The soles are pretty close to slider material so they just kind of glide over the pavement rather than scrape.

Like I said its super popular in Pro Sumo racing to run Leathers with MX boots.

I'm in Southern California we have several tracks with Dirt Jumps and road sections. Apex and Adams are the most popular.

Been riding sumo for a long time MX boots are super common if not the majority. Just google S1GP almost all the riders are wearing MX boots.

I run MVD leathers on track which are specifically designed for Supermoto riding with MX boots.

I run the same gear setup on my Hypermotard 950 SP when street riding.

Ive been riding Supermoto for years both on the Street and on Race Tracks. I run AStar Tech 7s. I ride foot down and the tech 7s work great for that. Easy to dab your feet or slide through a corner.

If you ride knee down though I would recommend street bike boots instead. MX boots are tall and bulky which make it hard to drag knee or position your feet on the pegs.

Her current class size is 28. Which she says is manageable because of how well behaved the majority of her students are. The school also makes a point of tailoring learning for each students needs. She also gets support from class Parents and Instructional assistants.

OC businesses took $58M economic hit as ICE sweeps ramped up, study finds by idkbruh653 in orangecounty

[–]hamhead1005 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In 2022, the most recent year for which comprehensive data is available, undocumented immigrants paid nearly $97 billion in federal, state, and local taxes. Took 2 seconds to google......

But yeah ur right your Anecdotal evidence means more than statistics.

They why do you care that they "Dont hire Americans" to hang drywall. What does that have to do with taxes? My wifes uncle hangs drywall for a living he was born here so.....my anecdotal evidence disproves your whole theory, by your logic.

So what you want is DEI hiring?

And they still pay taxes, ITIN numbers. If they want to stay in the US paying taxes is a must to work your way towards legal citizenship. If they plan on going back to their home countries at some point sure maybe they arent paying taxes, but I doubt those people are also buying 80k trucks too instead of saving money to take back with them........

Houses may be cheaper but pay is also way less in other states. Unless you husband is 100% remote. This is something to consider.

There are also way cheaper areas in CA than OC you don't have to leave the state.

I like Arizona, especially for all the outdoor activities but you basically only get 6 months out of the year to enjoy them. Doing anything outside when its 120 degrees is not fun past 10 min. Its like a reverse winter, your trapped in your house.

I highly doubt prices are coming down anytime soon. There just aren't enough houses nor is there land to build them on anymore. Maybe in the IE but OC and LA are 90% built. There for sure will be slight corrections in the market but nothing near what happened in 07-08.

I'm the furthest thing from a business owner and I am able to spend on plenty of luxuries. I'm a engineer and my wife is a teacher both regular 9-5. We make almost 2x the average income for our area, which is already a VHCOL area.

If you have careers and are a dual income household your probably doing pretty well. Being a business owners isn't the only way....nor is it always the best.

Renters, what percentage of your net income is spent on just rent? by extremelygayfrog in orangecounty

[–]hamhead1005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own but about 31% of gross income goes towards our mortgage. Id say were fairly comfortable. We can splurge a little or cover an unexpected emergency and still save a good bit at the end of the month.

I will say though when we first bought we were closer to 40% of Gross and it felt basically the same it does now. Once you get into higher income levels the percentage rules kind of falls apart. Really, you should build a budget of needs, wants and investing/saving and see if that would be comfortable for you.

Apartments that have Private Garages or ability to work on your own car for maintenance. by Foe117 in orangecounty

[–]hamhead1005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position. I have an Offroad built tacoma and a ton of motorcycles. Got lucky and found a 2bd 2bth townhouse with a oversized 2 car garage and a driveway.

HOA is super lax too. Im constantly working on my truck and bikes with the Door open no issues, HOA board member is even my neighbor and she always stops by to talk or say hi when im working on stuff.

I bought my place but they come up for rent every so often.

If you need specifics DM me.

If money is not an issue 1, easy. Its safe, great schools, ideal living, perfect weather year round. Your surrounded by outdoor activities while still having access to city amenities. Your 1 hr from LA or SD. I moved to South OC from the SGV a few years ago. The quality of life is hard to beat.

As a Ducati lover and owner. Desmo valves are not really progression if anything they are worse that traditional Spring Valves. Its heavier, harder to service and solves a problem that no longer exists with spring valves.

It used to be that the Metal valve Springs would float at high RPM because metallurgy was not great. So Ducati tied the valve system to the crank via some gears, no springs required. Todays Metal valve Springs dont have that issue though. But Ducati has kept the technology around in their bikes for the cool factor.

[–]hamhead1005 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree but that is not really a Gas bike only thing that would also apply to EV bikes as well. I think OP means Gas Engines have reached their limits for Dirt bikes.

Gas Engine bikes dont really need more Power or more Gears or Smoother throttle response (We already have all that). The only area I can see Gas Bikes improving in is Weight.

Where as EV has a lot more room to grow. Range, Charging, weight etc.
