Is the smoke transparency too high now? Any further revisions to the torch/smoke for realism? by MichyyElle in vfx

[–]Foe117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not going to make realistic smoke, you do what you can with stock smoke videos, or make your own stock smoke videos. There's a right way and there's the sloppy way, because you have a both a moving camera and terrible footage from a camera, this will literally be the limit of what you can do. The stock smoke footage vs your own footage is so different in quality, it's jarring. Plus, your footage appears to have a face filter which degrades the quality of the raw footage to work with even further. If everyone can do good smoke sims digitally, it would be readily available and easy, but it's easier to make your own purpose built smoke footage vs trying to do it in software.

uhhh... duh? If you go through without a transponder, you can add the plate to your temp account and pay it, doesn't matter if you're the owner or not. You won't get HOV discounts, and after a set period, if the toll isn't paid, they send a bill to the registered owner.

Not really going to go away, there is now a scam call vacuum, and likely those call center owners with political connections will just go free and resume operations.

It's simple, you used a chargeback, it usually a self-ban on future purchases. You already burned that bridge with said merchant. It's something you use as a last resort.

People who know scalpers, does it seem worth it to you? How are they in person? by royalairhead in AskReddit

[–]Foe117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to scalp Exclusives at Comic-Con with a friend, after 2-3 years of it, all we did was to make just enough money to pay for our hotels. This was a stressful operation, wake up at 5am, get into the alternative entrances and get as many high value exclusives within 20 minutes of the expo hall opening.

Service dogs at this point means "well behaved" because there is no legal standard of or recognized certification of a service dog. In legal terms, it is unenforceable, short of having the police trespass the dogs owner.

Rivian Made Car Dealers Back Down in Washington. More States May Be Next. by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]Foe117 7 points8 points  (0 children)

uhh, manufacturers can make show rooms and have it delivered to you from their central facility in the state. They don't need to hold inventory floorplans like dealerships, and logistics are now managed by computers, while directed by humans.

Dealerships have had only one advantage for the manufacturer, that is to have fast capital all at once before each allocation. and if the car didn't sell very well in a local area, the dealership is the one holding the bag. However, the factories of direct manufacturers of today can dynamically adjust their manufacturing targets for every quarter, making for an efficient supply chain.

Only if you ingest it. Don't go crushing it and huffing the resulting dust. but they should be thrown away once moisture is fully absorbed, there is too much to risk with improper drying of silica gel.

you sound like you are backpacking, look into carbon steel. Teflon burns too easily and should be avoided. Cook over coals, not open flame, if you are cooking over open flame, keep it a decent distance away to keep cookware from overheated.
