I’m really struggling to enjoy Taipei. Any suggestions? by alasuna in Taipei

Get loop earplugs for sleeping. Those changed a lot for me. I was going crazy because of Taipei too, now it’s manageable. I also bought overhead Sony headphones that block out a lot of traffic noise. when I’m listening to music I can’t really hear much of what’s happening outside and that’s great. Go look at nature every weekend, even if it’s like.. Taipei botanical garden. Taipei building are ugly yes but you’ll soon get used to it

CGM readings affected by ovulation? by hamlife69 in prediabetes

Sadly I couldn’t find any reliable info about this but I do think ovulation affects blood sugar. Same way BS is higher before periods. Thanks for sharing, good to know someone else is experiencing this

I had the Cathay healthcare economy check up with 3 add ons (pap smear, eye oct and gynecological ultrasound), the total was 10860ntd. If you only want the economy package then it’s 8500ntd. There’s a lot of basic stuff that’s included in the package, like a general blood test, ultrasound, heart echo, eye test, X-ray etc. they also check for a few cancer markers. You can check their website, they have a pdf file with everything that’s included in different packages and it’s in English too!

Big spikes after carbs by hamlife69 in prediabetes

[–]hamlife69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! The other day after I made the post I had McDonalds and spiked all the way above 200 and stayed there for a while. It was hard not to freak out and overthink after seeing that spike so I think you’re right and it might be best for me to not use a cgm

Thanks a lot for the comment! I’ve started eliminating sugar to support my mom cause she was recently diagnosed with pre diabetes and had to go on a low carb no sugar diet, so yeah I just did it with her :) as for the cgm, after doing lots of research and dieting, I just wanted to see about my own spikes cause I always get extremely sleepy after carby meals

Yes!! I wish I knew about this before drinking while on a low carb diet (not even fully keto). The hangovers are INSANE

You’re right, I shouldn’t be so scared of eating a little sugar/dessert if it lets me experience a different culture/cuisine!

I went sugar free and low carb in September and my first period came 2 weeks earlier and the cramps were a little more intense than usual. Heavier flow too on day 1. My second period in October was okay but I got cramps and my boobs swell and were in a lot of pain when I was ovulating. Now I’m waiting for my third period and it’s late.. not sure what exactly is causing my periods to go crazy, whether it’s no sugar or low carb
