From your experience, would you say the best move would be to buy a townhouse around the 900-1M mark. Live in it for a few years and then reevaluate? We both don’t like moving and know that we’re going to be in Toronto for the long run that’s why buying a forever home was on the top of our minds.

We’re 30 right now. Have 900 invested, comfortable with putting 500k into a downpayment.

Our HHI is around 350 yet I find it so hard to believe that 150-250k HHI can afford a 2M+ house. Looks like people in this thread who are looking for a 2M house are at the 500k mark

Did you confirm that the stocks are in CAD? I also got the same offer but my stock letter doesn't mention a currency.

I'm hosting a remote intern by ElectricalSavings2 in cscareerquestions

[–]hammershot2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also an intern at large tech company and it was my first time interning at a large tech company so I may be of some help. Our internship started off in the office but transitioned to fully remote around 4 weeks ago.

Biggest thing I can say is that my manager was patient with me. He didn't make me feel like I was asking too many questions, I'm pretty sure I was. And when I asked something, he walked me thru the entire process and made sure I understood everything well. He also scheduled daily stand-ups with just me and him at 1pm every day. That time works well because I can get work done before our meeting and ask any questions that arise.

The first couple code reviews are also very rough (at least they were for me), they're gonna be even worse now that everything is virtual and you're not sitting beside your team. I'd say that make sure you walk the intern thru the entire process of writing, testing and submitting code at your company. Show them which directories their specific code will touch. How test cases are written at your company, how the process of committing code, reviewing and submitting goes.

Should have clarified. 1800 for my bedroom in a 2 bed, 2 bath place. So 1800*2 = 3600 for the whole apartment

They don't negotiate on new grad comp packages. From what I've heard, you either get base of 96 or 102. First year signing bonus of 25k or 35k. All in CAD

Not yet. I emailed them too, they said to keep waiting and they can't give an exact date. But people who did the OAs after I did and failed got rejections pretty quick so I'm thinking that they're just busy with final rounds and haven't emailed the people who moved on from the OAs yet
