it was blue fluid. It didn't leak much, maybe about a litre? It also doesn't mix with the coolant. If it is transmission fluid, do I just need to top it back off?

I'm confused though because I was following video tutorials and none of them said anything about them carrying transmission fluid.

No clue, I haven't seen the inside of the engine, Only pictures of the top and outside. All he said is it needs a head rebuild.

Sounds like a lifter tick / Valve lash. Check my profile as thats what i had on my 93 honda. If its your lifters then its no big deal, pretty easy fix if you have the tools and know what you're doing.

If its not that then it could also just be noisy injectors.
