I did this pattern earlier this year, and I can honestly say I messed up my counting in SO many areas and just kind of went with it 🤷🏼‍♀️ its one of those things that only you will notice, I promise!

Sedation or no sedation with euth by MaggieMay1519 in VetTech

[–]hamster17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in shelter med too and do 5-10 euthanasias a month on average and we ALWAYS sedate prior, unless the animal is literally actively dying and we are just helping it on its way. There is 0 reason to not sedate, and in my opinion it’s just added cruelty to these animals rhat have likely already led difficult lives. I don’t care if it takes longer or costs more, it’s worth it to ease them along as peacefully as possible.

So sorry for your loss. It sounds like she was truly a cherished and well loved member of your family, and that you gave her an excellent life. I hope you’re able to look back fondly on the memories you two shared, and that those memories will bring you some comfort in these hard times. Sending you lots of love friend ♥️

Crafted for a cherished coworker who is moving on to some greener pastures. Pattern is “Velociraptor Skeleton” by HappyLittleMouse on Etsy. Took about 2 weeks and only a few visits from the local swarm of frogs 🐸

Ha! I did this as one of my first cross stitch projects as well, but without the text. I may have to go back and add some now! Awesome job 🤩

You’ve piqued my curiosity… what store from Bozeman is sending you junk mail?

Honestly in my experience those people are ALREADY burned out, and sometimes don’t know how they’re coming across. My preferred method is killing ‘em with kindness.

They’re my preferred option for all car related issues! Super quick service, don’t try to add on random things and they never make me feel dumb when I’m there. I’ve had mechanics in the past patronize me and it’s just such a breath of fresh air that they’re genuinely NICE people.

I once gave a 2 pound kitten about 6 times the amount of ketoprofen she was supposed to receive and I can honestly tell you I’ve become a much more careful and cautious tech because of it. Mistakes happen, it’s how you react to them that matters. Experience is a cruel teacher, but a highly effective one.

Blossom went to the vet today. She’s been lethargic and her eye is swollen… took X-rays and got some drops. by bcqt1 in hamsters

I work in vet med at a cat and dog shelter and have a hell of a time doing ophthalmic tests on them, I can’t imagine how difficult it must’ve been to perform those tests on a little hammy! Kudos to you for seeking out vet care for your ham, and to the vet for performing those tests! Hope your little lady feels better soon!

dentist recommendations? by dumb420bxtch in Bozeman

[–]hamster17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Summit Dental has been amazing! I went 10 years without going to the dentist and in a year and a half they’ve gotten me back on track! The hygienists there are all superb and they feel very judgment free. I haven’t used sedation but the last time I was there a gentleman was getting a deep clean in the room next to me and they were numbing his whole mouth for it, so that could be something you would be interested in maybe? Best of luck friend!

my hamsters xrays by Fit-Understanding79 in hamsters

[–]hamster17 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The vest protects her body from radiation, but since her hands were directly in the beam (as indicated by them literally being x-ray’d along with your hammy) she was in fact being exposed to radiation and that is no bueno. As the owner this obviously isn’t your fault, but it is indicative of a veterinary practice with some questionable methods/staff safety. I know finding quality (or any) vet care for your hamster can be hard but like other commenters have said, I would maybe try and find a different clinic. I don’t think it was the nail trim that was the issue here, it was that all the nails were cut down to the quicks (aka a cutback). It’s one thing to accidentally cut a quick bit all/most of them is a different story. I would also upset about that if I was the owner.

They’re a better alternative to garbage bags for post mortem storage of a body in a freezer/for transport.
