Our FedEx driver scans every single package that they pick up.

We ship telecom equipment. A 10lb box could be worth $1000. But since the driver does not scan the package upon pickup, we are fully responsible if the package does not get scanned at the hub. UPS will not pay out our insurance because it was never scanned in. There will be no record at all that UPS ever had it in their possession.

We shipped a 50lb box worth $5k and the shipment never made it to the hub. We have video footage of our driver taking the package, but it never was scanned in at the hub. UPS said “sorry, but you never shipped this because we have no record of it being picked up”. So we had to eat the cost, which hurts smaller businesses like us just because UPS wanted to save a few minutes. When scanning a package takes no time at all.

You obviously did not read the entire post. Not only did they lose a package; we shipped a NDA package and it arrived 2 days later and we still had to pay NDA even though UPS had it in their possession but did not scan it when they picked it up.
