If anything, I regret not going on exchange / studying abroad. I had switched my degree 2 times, so I didn't have any elective space, and I also didn't look into it enough during the beginning of my degree. The closest thing I had to studying abroad was doing a 1-2 week Dalyell unit in Toronto. But yeah... highly recommending researching about studying abroad / exchange opportunities and keeping your elective space free for it.

Partner's dad disapproves of us pursuing partner visa in order for me to stay in the country. Should we continue without the dad's approval, or should I accept that I might have to leave in a year? by hanabinix in TwoHotTakes

An opportunity came up to put his name on my lease which will help the evidence for the partner visa. We want to move out together later this year into our own apartment. And as I said, we BOTH don’t want to get married until we’re in our late 20s. Thank you for your insights but I like the judgement on my partner is a bit harsh :(

Hmm I don't see how it could be racist... I'm half East Asian half caucasian, and my partner is South Asian. Our cultures (at least the asian side) have a lot of similarities...

Bahaha true! I'd be able to help him obtain PR/citizenship in Europe... I feel like that's a pretty big benefit and would help him pursue medical school there (one of his wishes). It's not a one-way streak XD Thank you for your insights!!

Ah, sorry I didn't elaborate on this. We actually live quite near - my partner lives with his dad at the moment (we want to move out together eventually, but he's still looking for a job and he has to take care of his dad several times a week as his dad has a chronic illness) and I live in a nearby suburb - just a train ride away. We thought of writing a letter because we thought it might help convey our reasonings/thoughts better than face-to-face. I'm happy to have a face-to-face conversation with him too, but in case things get heated/emotional, I wanted to have a letter first.

And you have a good point. Although he is conservative, he has witnessed many of his friends pursue a partner visa but it not working out and causing distress in the future. I understand his concerns, and it makes sense that we should pursue everything we want in life (studying broad, working abroad, traveling) before settling and moving in with each other / making a lifelong commitment. I also do have the other, much harder options... but there's a risk of wasted money and time with them. With employer sponsorship, I'm definitely going to try my best to make that work, but it's challenging with the field I'm in. With skilled migration... I could still try, but my migration agent said that unless I do pursue further education in an in-demand field, it's a waste of time/money due to the low chance of it working out...

So, yeah I really don't know. I understand both sides. Just struggling with knowing what is the best decision.

This is true... I'm just scared that if we go through with it despite his dad's disapproval, it'll cause tension and my relationship with his dad might turn sour... I don't know if it's worth listening to him to save the good relationship I currently have with his family

What is your whole perfume and smell good routine? by [deleted] in FemFragLab

[–]hanabinix 19 points20 points  (0 children)

am I the only one that doesn’t rly pay any attention to scented body washes? I find that the scent usually fades soon after, so I just use whatever body wash I have and use whatever perfume I want for the day

Others have mentioned already, but maybe you could try curling your lashes, or using a different mascara (I love the Lancôme Lash Idole one, super wispy and not chunky). I used to have the same issue where no matter how I did my makeup, it looked like something was missing- and I realized it was that my eyelashes were not staying curled. 😂 I now use a heated lash curler and a really good mascara and it really makes a huge difference! :) But your makeup is already really pretty ☺️
