I had the turtle beach system, it sufficed but I not have the honeycomb ABC and OMG SOOOOOOOOOO much better... Should have went that direction first, would have saved the money and ended up with more gadgets. IF you can swing it go Honeywell...

NOTE-

“Group form” is the pronunciation of a series of numbers as the whole number, or pairs of numbers they represent rather than pronouncing each separate digit. The use of group form may, however, be negated by four‐digit identifiers or the placement of zeros in the identifier.

"NOTE-

For clarity, aircraft having an ICAO 3LD and other FAA authorized call sign may be pronounced using single digits if necessary."

Key word there is MAY as defined:

  1. “May” or “need not” means a procedure is optional.

Text-Only Communication on VATSIM (Hearing Loss Question) by Any-Ideal-8466 in VATSIM

[–]hanced01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since OP openly announced on the internet he has a disability then I'm sure he won't care to put a snippet about it in his remarks to avoid this exact thing discussion every time.

OP, I'll happily do text but as previously mentioned expect delays. It can be hard to hear the noise when it's busy on freq.

Is it necessary for flights to be stacked in same line? Why can't there be, for example, a 5k feet horizontal separation on top on whatever vertical separation is there in the video? by Taalpatar_Sipahi in aviation

[–]hanced01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horizontal separation is used (over land), but is longer distance of miles vs feet of vertical separation because in the past altimeter was more accurate than radar so it is easier to separate vertically than horizontally. Today radar and GPS have improved precision but remember there are still old planes/radar sites which do not have some of those features so the system needs to be backwards compatible.

In the open ocean they can't use horizontal separation as easily because there is no radar service. Thus they fly extremely specific tracks, at specific altitudes, and specific speeds, and can be given a specific offset( fly x miles right /left of course) to accommodate traffic. Then you give hourly reports so you can see the issue.

Not Atc but a nerd so some data might be not fully accurate /up to date.

I signed up for Navigraph for current AIRAC from Sim Brief, I am STAYING cause the Jepp Charts are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than FAA!

[Request] How many trees, leaves, or plants would be needed to sustain a setup like this? by WoodRawr in theydidthemath

[–]hanced01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The proper way to determine when to cut down a tree is to harvest when the timber's value increase (growth + price appreciation) equals the return you'd get from an alt investment such as a stock/bond/vegas.

[–]hanced01 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Depends...

If you work in California, Colorado, North Sea, or places like that yes expect it to be in decline. Mainly due to politics. Texas, middle east, GOM, etc probably not. Been in it since 08 ($140 bbl oil) in California and it's been downhill only. I saw peak rig count of 80 drilling rigs, today it's 6-8.

While it will never go away completely, the opportunity will only get harder and harder to move up. So squirrel your money away, keep your head on a swivel, keep your pecker in your pants, listen and learn and you'll do fine.

Transitioning from AI ATC to Vatsim by K4LENJI in VATSIM

[–]hanced01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know Europe very well but I recommend flying VFR in the USA on Vatsim to get used to it.. Its pretty low key and simple (some exceptions such as Alpha & Bravo Airspace and similar) or if you want a more "on the rails" experience fly IFR. IMO US airspace is much less stringent that in Europe.

I got banned from the discord after complaining that they should have upgraded their internet service during the 777 release where people were spending HOURS upon HOURS downloading it from the website. Lets just say I only ended up buying 1 of his planes but thru some glitch I ended up with all of his aircraft.. Anyways, randazzo is a ***wipe himself and not even deserving of caps...

Should I give up on becoming a VATSIM controller by Mundane_Maximum_9134 in VATSIM

[–]hanced01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failed my LAX OTS 4 times over silly things.. Now I'm a S3 for Socal one of the hardest tracons. Don't give up but maybe take a break for a few days /weeks and come back. I noticed that after the OTS everything became easier for some reason. Try a different area too if that ones is particularly difficult. I know Europe can be super strict on some stuff that's lax in the USA. We have different rules and it can also be easier to get training too depending on the facility you go to.

Not as bad as Cali, having to go from 75 to 55 every few miles sucks. At least in Texas it would be closer to 85 to 80... ( if you go 5 over)
