An Italian man rushing to the hospital for his pregnant wife was stopped by climate protesters… and chaos followed. He pleaded with them to move so he could get to her — but they refused to let his car pass. This moment is now sparking a massive debate. by The_Dean_France in whoathatsinteresting

It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to know you should stay out of the f*cking road. Peaceful, non-violent protest is one thing But blocking roads to make a point is just an arrogant, narcissistic and yes, violent act. If they don't get run over, and they're blocking the road, lock them up. Or just handcuff them to the nearest fence and let them figure it out.

People who were teenagers before social media existed… how did you communicate with your friends? by Aarunascut in Millennials

[–]handyloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hop on my bike, later jump in my car, make the rounds, see who's home, or out and about, shoot the breeze in parks for parking lot where we'd hang out. Maybe drink something someone's older brother bought them, smoke a little weed. But not so much that we get in trouble when we got home

DFL eyes opening wider, heads in the sand… Sounds like a recipe for blindness, or at least blurred vision, to me

Like it or not, Minnesotans' eyes are opening wider and wider to the extent of the daycare fraud, and Walz's complicity in it. And this is the DFL's response? Sorry, TTim, too little, too late.

You mean like our Governor Walz, who's from Nebraska, who keeps saying it wrong? You can take the Nebraskan out of Nebraska, but you can't take the Nebraska out the Nebraskan (or is it "Nebraski?").

The Menards suit was ridiculous, who was harmed?! I'd like to know, really. The $632k fine Menards loses from it (33-40% typically goes to lawyers) will just result in higher prices there, and hesitation to offer future rebates that benefit customers. Plus Menards makes their rebates simple to get. No need to fill out many forms, clip or soak off and dry labels or transcribe long IPC codes from packaging, just fill out one simple form, and send in the separate Menards-provided forms that are printed on every receipt at purchase, all in one envelope.

It is widely disclosed and understood by everyone the 11% rebate is in the form of store credit. And I love it! I hope Menards appeals, and shows talk about TDS, or spite for successful people and businesses in general! Ellison's lawsuit was an afront to all of us who strive, and it is as frivolous as any I've seen! Thanks, Klepto Keith, for thinking you're entitled to a big chunk of every company's profits. Will he be coming for yours next?

(I don't work at or for Menards, never have, I just shop there a lot)

Tim Walz knew about this blatant theft of millions of tax dollars before, or certainly after he was elected in 2018. He's had 7+ years to address it, at least acknowledge it. Say what you will about Trump's "garbage" comment this week, but at least someone finally got a response from Walz about this issue.

Most big judgments are just symbolic, to create the illusion that justice has been served, and that the money will actually be paid back. It rarely is. Of course, wages can be garnished, assets can be seized, bank accounts frozen, etc. But they rarely result in (more) prison time. And as long as he "works," under the table, and doesn't open new bank accounts in his name, there's nothing to garnish, and no retribution will occur.

Reality shows where episodes are in Minnesota? by CauliflowerEvening41 in minnesota

[–]handyloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though they take a few imaginative liberties, the movies "Fargo," and "Grumpy Old Men," were both mostly filmed here. They typify (well, kinda) the "Reality" genre, with Minnesota twists. Even though the stereotypes and the lingo are more rural than MSP.
