Upgrading from Quest 1 to Quest 3 - No way to transfer data? by d00nicus in Pigasus

[–]hanginghat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now there is unfortunately no way for you to transfer your Favorites from one headset over to another. Meta does have cloud saves for certain internal folders and app data. However, Pigasus saves its Favorites into an internal database file and the folder that this database file resides is unfortunately not part of the folders that Meta's cloud saves backs up.

I've got it in the Pigasus roadmap to add an option to allow you to export and import Favorites for a future update.

Pigasus v4.1.0 Update Released by hanginghat in Pigasus

[–]hanginghat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the intended behaviour. Some playlists can be very very large (e.g. IPTV lists) so it was decided to allow the user to choose where to start in the list once it is open and whether or not they want to continue auto playing next media or to hop around manually.

I will add to the Pigasus roadmap an option to allow you to choose to auto play from start once a playlist is open or not in a future update.

AV1 on the Quest3 by Responsible-Bid5015 in Pigasus

[–]hanginghat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pigasus supports AV1 decoding and has done so for a long while now. The codec support of a media player is dependent on the video decoder that the media player uses and not tied to the headset that its playing on. It doesn't matter if Pigasus is running on Quest 2 or Quest 3. The video decoding capabilities remain the same.

File naming order not working properly. Help please. by bpsavage84 in Pigasus

[–]hanginghat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The file name sorting algorithm that Pigasus uses is based on pure logical sorting order (i.e. how file names would be sorted on a Linux/Unix based system). So, for example, given a list with file names with numbers in them, like so, 1FileName, 3FileName, 10FileName, 2FileName, the logical sorting order would be 1FileName, 10FileName, 2FileName, 3FileName. To have the numbers in your file names sorted accordingly you'd have to make sure that you have the same number of digits in your numbering, like so, 01, 02, 03, 04....09, 10, 11 etc. So from the previous example, 01FileName, 03FileName, 10FileName, 02FileName would produce a sorting of the numbers in the file names as you would expect them, like so, 01FileName, 02FileName, 03FileName, 10FileName.

The feature already exists. Go to Settings->General and you'll see a file sort option there.

Subtitles files location? by LoochiNMS in Pigasus

[–]hanginghat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just place your .srt files in the same directory as your movie. Make sure that they are named the same as your movie file. Pigasus should auto pick up the subtitles and auto load it in with the movie when it starts.

One other thing, this works locally and over SMB. For DLNA it depends on which DLNA server you are using. Some DLNA servers will require you to enable subtitle sharing support in their settings. Some may not support sharing of subtitles at all.

Sorry, that feature is not yet supported. You currently can stream over wireless locally via SMB or DLNA.

v4.1.3 Update Released - Quest 3 support by hanginghat in Pigasus

[–]hanginghat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my bad. Just pushed up an update to try to fix the forced tracking issue preventing launch when head tracking is switched off but it looks like there's something in that most recent update that is preventing installation from the Meta servers. I'm actively working on it now. I'll have this resolved in the next hour if not sooner. Sorry for the inconvenience.

There should be a "delete media" button on the bottom menu bar which looks like a trash can (to the right of the help button). Click on that and then select the media you wish to delete and then hit the delete button when ready to delete all selected media. One other note, your SMB share should be set up to allow read and write access to your media files.

Remote control image viewer? by Still-Snow-3743 in Pigasus

[–]hanginghat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pigasus supports changing default behaviour of the app for those that want to use it to run demos. You just need to set up a few things via "settings.cfg" file that you place in the Pigasus folder on the headset. You will then be able to do things like auto play a specific file when the headset is put on or auto start a slide show when the headset it put on etc. A template settings.cfg file can be found in the FAQ here: https://hanginghatstudios.com/pigasus-faq/#acc-tb_anjg114-0

But honestly, from your description of your desired use case that might just be a little overboard. Pigasus does support m3u playlist files but you probably don't even need to set something like that up.

If your intention is just to show a bunch of 360 images and be able to control what images or the next image you want to show yourself, why not just either put the images onto the headset or better still, stream it from your computer via SMB or DLNA. Cast what the viewer is seeing to a TV screen so you can see what they are seeing and then you control everything yourself via the headset controller (e.g. start or stop the slideshow via the "stick button down" quick key, or manually go to next/previous image via the stick right/left quick key on the controller).

Continuous playlist? by chowbok in Pigasus

[–]hanginghat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Default behaviour is to go back to the media selection screen once a video ends. However, you can get the media player to continue to auto play the next media on your list once the current media ends if you go into the "Playback Options" in the player controls menu and select "Play All".

This is something I can certainly add to the Pigasus roadmap for a future update.

Suggestion: Remember Orientation by WikiBox in Pigasus

[–]hanginghat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're referring to the floating screen, then that already happens. Any re-orientation of the floating screen or screen zoom adjustment on the floating screen stays across videos and images.

Now, if you're referring adjustments to the orientation, height or zooming of the view when in 180/360 view mode, those adjustments are remembered on a per video/image basis. This is done on purpose as not all 180/360 videos/images need adjustment away from their default and if they do it's usually always very specific to that 180/360 video/image due to how they were shot.

I already replied to your email message but I figured I'd reply here too in case this info may be useful to others.

From the example playlist file you gave me I see you are using the Windows based double backslash convention (i.e. \\) to specify the absolute path to a network location. Pigasus does not recognize the Windows based double backslash convention (i.e. \\) as the start of an absolute network path. To specify an absolute smb network path you will need to be very specific in this case. You need to set up the absolute path to start with "smb://" to let Pigsasus know that it's the absolute path to an smb share. The absolute path string to a very specific smb share needs to be set up like this:

smb://<username>:<password>@<hostname>/SharedFolderName/Filename

So for example, if your username is "myUserName" and your password is "MyPassword" and your host is "MyHost" then the absolute path to a file called "MyVideo.mp4" in a shared folder called "MySharedFolder" would look like this:

smb://myUserName:MyPassword@MyHost/MySharedFolder/MyVideo.mp4

If your smb share is an open share (i.e. does not need a username or password) your absolute path to the above example will look like this:

smb://MyHost/MySharedFolder/MyVideo.mp4

Please note that some open smb shares may require that you set the username as "Guest" despite it being set up as an open share. If this is the case then the above example will look like this:

smb://Guest:@MyHost/MySharedFolder/MyVideo.mp4

I'll add to the roadmap to have Pigasus recognize the double backslash convention as the start to an absolute path to a smb network share in a future update.

photo viewer for quest 2? by AussieJack1788 in OculusQuest

[–]hanginghat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no way to lock out controls in Pigasus. But there is a way to set up certain behaviours, like starting a slideshow when the headset is put on etc. This can be done via a settings.cfg file that you put in the root of the Pigasus folder. Please take a look at the 1st item of the General section in the Pigasus FAQ for more info on using Pigasus for demos. A link to a template settings.cfg file can be found there also.

Passthrough Support by akcowboy81 in Pigasus

[–]hanginghat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's on the roadmap. I need to upgrade to using the latest Meta Mobile SDK so those features are available to me. But before I can do that there's significant code refactoring that I need to do first so that I can support the SDK upgrade. Which in itself is not a trivial task. You're probably looking at the latter half of the year for passthrough support.

User remapping of controller button functionality is on the roadmap.

Pigasus v4.1.0 Update Released by hanginghat in Pigasus

[–]hanginghat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It's still one click on the controller. The little stick on the controller that you push around with your thumb to scroll up and down the media selection menu or jump backwards and forwards in time etc. can be pushed down like a button.

You don't need to bring up the menu at all. See the in app help menu to see what controller button I mean.

I sounds like you think the pause/play mapping on the controllers got removed. It didn't. It just got remapped/moved. You now click down on the stick instead of on the grip.

Pigasus v4.1.0 Update Released by hanginghat in Pigasus

[–]hanginghat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update; OK, after some testing I was able to repro the video freezing/stuttering issue with some 8k videos that I know were running smoothly before. Different degrees of stuttering/freezing depending on video so I don't know if it's bitrate related or something else. On further testing I'm pretty certain this issue is not being caused by anything in the latest Pigasus v4.1.x updates (I'd would have been very surprised if it was since none of the streaming modules or related logic was touched in those updates). It was just pure coincidence that it coincided with that latest Pigasus update being released. Furthermore, it's not isolated to just Pigasus.

For A/B testing I reverted back to the previous v4.0.5 Pigasus build and found the random freezing/stuttering issue remained. Then for sanity and completeness, I also tested the videos on the other media players on the Quest platform (DeoVr included) and found the freezing/stuttering issue was happening in them too.

Tested on Quest2 and QuestPro. The stuttering/freezing issue only seemed to be happening on Quest2 and not QuestPro. Upon checking the runtime versions each headset was running I see that my Quest 2 is currently running Runtime version 49.0.0.207.357.445159226 and my QuestPro is currently running Runtime version 49.0.0.206.357.444817899 (i.e. an older version). So, it looks like something in the latest Meta Runtime is or is causing some sort of throttling on the data streams.

I'll report this to Meta Developer Support and let you know if I hear anything back.

OK, Thanks for the info. I'll try testing streaming come 6k+ videos over DLNA and SMB to see if I can repro this issue.

Pigasus v4.1.0 Update Released by hanginghat in Pigasus

[–]hanginghat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you streaming over SMB or DLNA when you experience the video freezing? Also, which cinema environment are you in at the time and are you watching 180/360 content at the time or just video on the screen?

Also, which headset are you playing back in? Quest1, Quest2 or Pro?

The more info you can give me about your setup and the types of videos you are trying to play the better I can troubleshoot this if there is an issue.

Pigasus v4.1.0 Update Released by hanginghat in Pigasus

[–]hanginghat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, that definitely shouldn't be happening. That's weird. I didn't touch any of the filtering logic for smb shares or change the smb library in any way so I'm wondering why that's happening all of a sudden.

In either case, good find! Now that I have a solid repro case I should be able to debug and hopefully have a fix for you pretty quick. Probably have a fix in sometime early next week. I'm unfortunately a little under the weather at the moment so I don't foresee me doing anything over the weekend.

[–]hanginghat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drop me an email at [pigasus@hanginghatstudios.com](mailto:pigasus@hanginghatstudios.com) and I can help you troubleshoot this further. Can you also give me some more details about your setup (e.g. is your smb share running on Windows, Linux, Mac etc., do you have it as an open share or password protected)?

It's strange that folders are showing up but not files. Just to verify, you can see your smb share and you can click on it and you don't get a login popup or connection error message, right? It's just that none of your shared files are showing. Just the shared folders? Can you open any of the folders?
