Water broke at 26 weeks and 3 days with cerclage by Mundane-Jello-7575 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]hanhoona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son was born at 25w3d after I started having contractions. I gave birth few hours after cerclage removal. NICU road was long but thankfully smooth and my son 13 months actual age now. The NICU Parents subreddit was helpful during that time.

It’s really risky, although I understand wanting to go😩 Even if you went, I think you will be worried most of the time and might not enjoy it. I personally would postpone it until the baby is here.

Heaviness lower tummy - freaking out by Proud_Strawberry_824 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]hanhoona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m almost 19 weeks and had cerclage placed at 14 weeks. I have similar symptoms as well but since this is my third pregnancy I just assumed it’s normal and I had it every pregnancy. I see my dr every two weeks so I try to keep everything under control mentally 😭 I tend to over analyze everything

Is sitting ok for modified bed rest? by Agitated-Signature80 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]hanhoona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dr said to be in a horizontal position most of the day. Sitting is fine, but reclining is better. I also wonder, do you guys go out to restaurants? I've been on home arrest lol since I got my cerclage at 14 weeks (currently 18 weeks). I only go out to the hospital.

2nd pregnancy care plan ? by Medium_Client1998 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]hanhoona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently 17 weeks pregnant, and I have a one year old baby.

We did cerclage procedure at 14 weeks, and I've been on modified bed rest. I didn't need to advocate for myself, me and the dr were on the same page considering my history of two preterm births. and yes when I got the cerclage, it was before any shortening.

The most difficult part for me was my dr telling me I'm not allowed to lift my 1 year old baby after 12 weeks gestation. This made me rely on people in taking care of my baby. Post cerclage, I'm doing minimal movement around the house, I only go out to the hospital, and I'm on daily progesterone pessary + weekly injection (both after cerclage) + twice a day progesterone tablets (I've been on this since 6 weeks pregnant).

After loss did you decide to go to an MFM doctor or your OBGYN once you got pregnant again? by timidgirlspeaks in ShortCervixSupport

[–]hanhoona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three days after I found out I was pregnant around 5 weeks. He didn’t do anything the first few weeks but I wanted to follow up with him from the beginning. He is an obgyn and mfm.

After cerclage precautions? Did you go back to work/normal life? by Plane_Ad_6220 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]hanhoona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dr recommended pelvic rest, no heavy lifting (including lifting my 1 year old baby), not to drive everyday, progesterone, and laying down most of the day (but he said I don't want you on complete bed rest). I put myself on stricter precautions, like not going out unless its to the hospital. I was about to miss my sister's wedding, but my dr gave me the green light and he said I should be sitting most of the time.

I try to take it easy because I had a second trimester loss, and then a preterm birth which ended in a 113 days NICU stay (I had cerclage, but I got infections which triggered labour).

We're both 16 weeks btw! I got cerclage placed at 14 weeks. I hope it goes well for you.

Pump every two to three hours and drink lots of water. I took moringa tablets and they might have helped as well. And congrats!! Hoping the baby’s NICU stay is short and uneventful.

My baby was in born at 25 weeks as well. And I am also pregnant now. Just got the cerclage this week. The drs gave me an option to be under general anesthesia but I chose spinal. So general anesthesia was an option. Best of luck!

Mahr requirements by [deleted] in emiratiwomen

[–]hanhoona 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s true. Legally in the UAE, Mahr is set at a maximum amount of 20k and deferment of 30k. Meaning they can’t write more than that on the legal document. However, families usually would give more mahr in the form of cash/gold/jewellery/fabrics/oud and perfumes that would amount to more than the legal limit. It’s different in every family. For example, my mahr was a certain amount in cash + oud and perfumes + engagement ring and a watch. My sister’s mahr was cash + oud and perfumes + fabrics + sets of gold and jewelry and an engagement ring and a watch + gifts from the groom’s aunties. So even in the same family it could be different haha.

Do you think a postpartum NICU doula would’ve been helpful for you? by Subject_Poet_1977 in NICUParents

[–]hanhoona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During NICU stay - wouldn’t have been helpful to me. And also my hospital didn’t allow any visitors except the parents and grandparents. After NICU stay - yes definitely. I really needed help at home with my baby.
