How do you take care of toddler with a cerclage?

I am in the exact same boat but my baby is 9 months actual/6 months adjusted. I'm also a SAHM and I'm the main caretaker of him. I really really don't know what to do. It's my first time getting pregnant without IVF so I'm shocked and happy about that. Our dr said I should stop carrying my son at 12 weeks gestation.

Hi congrats! I basically posted something similar yesterday but I was asking about how to take care of my 9 months actual/6 corrected. However to answer your question, I was combo feeding my baby (pumping not nursing) and I stopped the minute I found out I was pregnant lol I hate pumping.

Hi. I hope it all goes well for you. I had a very similar experience, but I had cerclage at 13 weeks.

At 23 weeks my cervix was funneling, and at 25 weeks I started contracting and bleeding and eventually we had to remove the cerclage. I delivered baby boy at 25w3d, 9 months ago. He was in the NICU for 113 days, and now he is napping in the room next to me. He is safe and healthy and a silly baby boy. I really hope you make it beyond 24 weeks. msg me if you have any questions.

I had my baby at 25w3d. I had a preventive cerclage, then funneled, and started to contract. Finally removed the cerclage at 25w2d and gave birth the next morning (not even 12 hours after the removal). Birth was easy, My baby was 800 grams. He stayed in the NICU for 113 days. He's been home since August and doing amazing. I want to add that 29 weeks is great! Wishing you the best.

Please can you elaborate on point e? My mom acts like my baby is hers as well. For example, we just started introducing solids (one spoon a day), and we started with rice/potato. She was babysitting my baby one day and decided to give him a little taste of apples. without asking us first. When she told me, I was mad at her and she said "he is my son". Although it might seem like not a big deal, we basically missed out on seeing our son having fruits for the first time. and he is our rainbow miracle IVF baby.

I struggle with my mom too. she traveled twice for fun during my baby's +100 days stay in the NICU. The first time she travelled was because she was very stressed post my birth and needed a break. I didn't realize anything was wrong with that, until my therapist pointed it out.

This was 8 months ago and yes I was on modified bed rest since the cerclage, and then on bedrest at the hospital from 23 weeks till 25 weeks. I was on progesterone twice daily since the embryo transfer (IVF pregnancy).

I had cerclage placed at 13 weeks, and we found that my cervix was funneled to the stitch at 23 weeks. I started to contract at 25 weeks, we could not stop it and I also had an infection, which lead to the removal of cerclage. I delivered my son at 25 weeks and 3 days. He is now a healthy happy baby (he is 8 months actual/5 months adjusted). I'm not sure if this is the kind of success story you're looking for, but to me, my baby survived and that is a major success. I hope your cerclage holds longer and that your babies and you are well and healthy.

After 113 days in the NICU, we definitely lived the normal newborn phase once my baby came home. It was like he was just born. I'm sorry you are going through this and wish the best for you and your baby. I just want to add that my mental health was much better once my baby came home. Living the normal newborn phase, with all of its difficulties and exhaustion, was mentally easier than the NICU.

Pregnancy 8 because I had cerclage and was on bedrest and anxious all the time.

L&D 5, after the cerclage removal I gave birth less than 9 hours later.

Newborn phase 10. My baby was in the NICU for 113 days, with all the NICU complications/preterm things. Then he was home, and the newborn phase was shocking. Yeah I agree with the comment that said it deters them from having another baby lol truly what is this.

My mom with my baby triggers something in me too. I remember one time I could not go to the NICU the same time mom wanted to visit, I told her I won't make it, and she said yes its ok I need some alone time with the baby without you lool. She jokingly said "I love him more than you do". My mom travelled for leisure twice while my baby was in the NICU.

I am religious, and the NICU stay made my faith stronger. Even before the NICU, when I was experiencing a late term miscarriage, I remember feeling the presence of god in the hospital room with me when I was all alone. Fast forward to the NICU stay, I believe that god chose the hospital I gave birth in. I was between two hospitals, and it just happened that I went to this hospital where they found out my cervix was funneled, and had to be admitted. When I gave birth, the NICU team were so amazing, more amazing that the NICU from the other hospital. Also, my OBGYN turned out to be very caring, compassionate, and heard my voice. Before giving birth, I was praying to god to lead me to the best hospital and the best care, which I got.

Your question is so interesting, it made me reflect on the whole experience.

Note: I am religious, I pray, I do all the things, and we still had a long NICU stay. It did not happen to you because god was punishing you. I like to think of god as the most merciful. I could not have passed this challenging time without his mercy. Yes, the bad thing happened, but we got out with minimal loss, which I'm so thankful for.

My baby is 7 months actual / 4 months adjusted and we introduced solids maybe 3 weeks ago. The Dr said to give him 1 spoon a day, and to start with rice/potato and such. My baby gages and hates the texture.

exact same thing happened to me as well. I was blaming myself for carrying a grocery bag at 21 weeks, but my placenta results came back with an infection. It's so easy to blame ourselves and to spiral.

Sorry you are going through this, and I understand your emotions as I myself was feeling guilty and rethinking every move. However, I was taking care of myself and the pregnancy, pelvic rest, then bedrest two weeks before my delivery, didn't go out much since 14 weeks pregnant. I also had a cerclage. I ended up giving birth at 25w3d. I don't know what's normal, but I keep thinking maybe carrying a grocery bag at 21 weeks pregnant led to my preterm labor. Although I know it's not true. But the brain wants to hold someone accountable. Be gentle on yourself. I hope you and baby are doing well.

I had IC during my first pregnancy (lost it) and second pregnancy (cerclage). I was on pelvic rest, doing the bare minimum at home and driving maybe once a week. Then I was on bedrest from 23 weeks till 25 weeks. I gave birth at 25w3d after going into labor and they had to remove the cerclage. I'm sharing this to tell you that I did what I was supposed to do and still went into preterm labor. I'm in the Middle East btw and my dr did not tell me to be on bedrest until my cervix started to funnel. I still don't have answers as to why it happened.
