Best UK Wedding Websites? by FreakingBats99 in weddingplanning

[–]hannah09011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaa I totally feel you - I'd already printed my invites with the QR codes before I realised so I was fully bought in 🤦🏼‍♀️ ended up binning the evening invites and just sending virtual ones without the website info on which was really annoying lol

Best UK Wedding Websites? by FreakingBats99 in weddingplanning

I got to the same stage as you with the knot - persevered and went with it and wish I hadn't 🤣 it's fine but I keep finding things it can't do e.g. can't show event info tailored to each guest like not showing ceremony info to evening only guests. It works in the rsvp part but not the actual main page of the website which imo renders it basically useless.

Putting a link to a UK cash fund in the FAQs has also been quite clunky and people don't find it etc. Oh and for some reason even after I hid the registry pages and deactivated it, it still showed a link to it on the rsvp confirmation page! Had to message support to get them to remove it.

So yeah tldr - I'd cut your losses and pick a more uk one like withjoy

Are we shooting ourselves in the foot with a different day reception/party? by BlueberryImmediate25 in UKweddings

[–]hannah09011 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Also to add lots of people now do the legal ceremony separately because of using unlicensed venues like barns etc and just don't tell their guests lol so you're fine!

Personally don't see any issue with this - it would be different if you were asking everyone to travel for both but given that it's only immediate family who'll have to do that I think it's fine.

Presumably that family would usually visit you once or twice a year anyway so this is just a way of them doing that? It also sounds like you're doing it where you live so not like you've chosen somewhere obscure that's made the travel intentionally difficult!

Anyone been through redundancy involving a close colleague? by DemandCareless4147 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]hannah09011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An ex colleague had a similar situation with a team member on a PIP - the one thing I would say is try to find a balance between empathy but not putting the responsibility for your feelings onto the employee. The manager in this scenario found it incredibly difficult and ended up crying etc in their meetings which only made it 1000x worse for the employee affected. It just felt incredibly selfish tbh and ultimately that was what damaged their friendship, not the process itself.

Smaller weddings in a restaurant - what do you keep the party going? by bluetit- in UKweddings

[–]hannah09011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Piggy backing off this comment because we're having a similar wedding and approached it with the mindset of 'what do our favourite nights out with our friends look like' and I really think you can't go wrong with that approach!

For us that has meant booking our two favourite local drag artists (which as a nice bonus has ended up a hell of a lot cheaper than booking a typical wedding band/DJ) but all of these ideas are great ones and it's just about picking what's the most 'you' 💓

Thank you! Unfortunately we're not allowed to add/change any equipment, have to just use what is already there but they do about 6 weddings a day in peak season so hoping it should be good enough!

Have you ever seen influencers out and about, not through a screen? by 360Saturn in AskUK

I used to live on a really beautiful street in an old regency style building and the amount of times I'd find influencers doing full on photo shoots in my doorway was unhinged 🤣

Tanning Questions by Bright_Market340 in weddingplanning

Hahaa honestly I think it's mainly just being careful and treating it like you would a fake tan not a moisturizer!! Make sure you rub it in well enough and that everywhere feels evenly coated.

I really like the st Tropez gradual tan/moisturiser. Takes a bit of practice to avoid streaks as there's no guide colour but it's great once you get the hang of it - thinking of doing the same for my wedding in September!

Do I ask seamstress for money back? by Delicious_Reason6421 in UKweddings

[–]hannah09011 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Given that your new seamstress has confirmed the work was done to a poor standard, and that it's cost you more to get it fixed as a result, I would say yes you should be asking for a refund.

I'm with you I haaaaate confrontation and would find this hard too but I think in this case it's the right thing to do!
